It's not the size of the waves, but the interval between them that pounds the crap out of you. I know. I go out on Lake Ontario often at 70 years old.
Ain't that the damn truth. Some lakes they stack up way worse than others. Felt like I was riding a bull today going back to the ramp before a bad storm with high wind and the high winds hadn't even got there yet.

It's all about the clicks. He knows he's probably not going to win another tournament, so may as well use the time to produce content. On-line pays better now. He knows it, just like Randy B.

Just doing what everyone else does. I like watching a lot of different anglers videos on YouTube where they travel and prepare for each tournament.

I have fished with my share of tour pros in pro-ams and I would never buy any of their used boats. I was fishing with John Murray during his heyday on Mead and we were approaching the weigh-in marina from the south when he pointed out Aaron Martens in his 20 foot Champion hauling butt jumping waves coming in from the north. He said that guy is tough on boats. It was crazy to see Aaron break the bolts on his motor in the one Elite event. Lake Mead gets really ugly. Being a marshall or am on any big and windy lake is a crap shoot.
Because buying a used boat off a total stranger is so much better? You have no idea how they drove their boat.

That's why I'll never buy another used boat. Too many unknowns that you can't check on a visual inspection. My first boat was a perfect example of that and it bit me hard. Probably had water freeze in the bilge and cause stringer damage.

Very true. My first Champion was used because that's all that I could afford when I was young. It had lots and lots of problems the older it got related to the first pro that owned it, but then so has my 2008 Champion that I bought new that has been meticulously taken care of and driven pretty easy. You can avoid some hull and engine abuse if you don't buy a boat that has been driven too hard, but boats aren't cheap in the long run, no matter how you look at it. I have seen way too many engine and hull issues on pro tournament fishermen's boats to want to go that route, unless they give you a price that makes up for all of the possible issues. When i fished pro-ams, everyone knew who's boats on the pro side were taken care of. Boats are an expensive crap shoot in general. B.O.A.T.=bring out another thousand. Get used to this if you own a big expensive rig.

From what I understand, Basscat goes back through his boat and fixes all of the issues before he sells it, so I will be in better shaped then the average used boat.

That's cool that they do that. I still don't want his boat.

There are a few guys I would buy their boats. Ike is not one of them.

IMO for engine longevity, especially in 40º water, it's important to let the engine warm up to temperature before hammering down at WOT. I don't know of one single pro who does this. Their 1 year old boat has 5-10 years worth of your average weekender's boat.
