I hadn't seen this before and as a fellow Delaware River rat I enjoyed it. Ike is a character for sure and interesting to see the behind the scenes stuff. I strongly considered being a marshal or whatever BASS calls it now for the Pasquatank River and am so glad that I did not.

I thought about being a Marshall, thanks to the boys on the NC page, they talked me out of it.
Ike also said out of his entire career the Albemarle Sound was top 3 worst water conditions he's ever witnessed and was legit scared.
Not to worry, I've heard from multiple northerners on BBC that those conditions are just a Tuesday evening for the great lakes and there's no such thing as big water outside of the great lakes!![]()

Can't believe a pro fishing veteran of 30 years in the sport was worried about all those 1 foot waves. Just boggles my mind.

Ike is famous for beating up his rigs.

I have fished with my share of tour pros in pro-ams and I would never buy any of their used boats. I was fishing with John Murray during his heyday on Mead and we were approaching the weigh-in marina from the south when he pointed out Aaron Martens in his 20 foot Champion hauling butt jumping waves coming in from the north. He said that guy is tough on boats. It was crazy to see Aaron break the bolts on his motor in the one Elite event. Lake Mead gets really ugly. Being a marshall or am on any big and windy lake is a crap shoot.
yep i remember that at the sabine.. he talks about it in the video says he had been fishing back there practicing coming in and out and there was a log that must of somehow gotten pushed across and submerged and he hit it and it launched him onto the bank. The videos one of the better ones ive seen in a while

Hi Mike.
I watched that whole video. I thought it was great. Great stories!
Never cared for Ike at all, But I watched the whole video. Seems like he's mellowed out quite a bit in his old age. I was quite surprised.

I couldn’t imagine being his co angler during that open. I remember reading about that in his book
I can’t imagine Ike running that hard in those waves. He’s going to be a crippled old man getting beat up like that.
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
