Ya I am sure you could just press new bearings on and reinstall assuming outer seats did not get damage. Hearing about this end cap thing could throw a wrench in the project though. I would most certainly attempt the repair, but I can get the bearings for no cost at work so if it did not work out, it would be no loss to me.
