I had Hot Passes to the pits and garages at KC speedway for several years. I think I enjoyed watching the cars being inspected before the race as much as I did the races. They went over every car with a fine tooth comb to insure all were the same and nothing out of place. The inspectors also used contour boards across the bodies to check that the aerodynamics conformed in the right places. The thing that probably surprised me the most was the number of extra sets of tires at each trailer ready to be slapped on. All were marked with their current pressure with the only differences in some being a half PSI +/- depending on what the driver or crew chief thought they needed as the track conditions changed. Hard to believe how a half pound of pressure in the tires could make that much difference but it is where the rubber meets the road

NASCAR could really help racing by stop throwing a caution at a stage. Just award points and not throw the caution. And redo this next gen car. Have you guys seen the underneath side of this next gen car. Looks like a toy car of some kind. Go back to the four speed gate shifter. And five lug nuts.

Well, the cars keep getting closer and closer to aircraft. I say, make a couple of bigger tracks figure 8's and put in a jump or two. At least someone might pass someone else and pull in front of them.
Acceleration counts for almost nothing nowadays. If you drove like that on the freeway it would take 5 miles to pass someone else.

my step cousin raced dirt modified. Essentially it was a competition to see who could cheat the most without getting caught.

Nascar today is a joke. Back 20 years it was not. The drivers of today couldn't hold a candle to someone who actually had to "drive" a racecar. And....ohhh let's take breaks in the middle of the race.....great idea.

But a loose bolt at 200MPH? Could be a small concern?

I disagree with that part. The way it is now, there's a lot more action

They might as well write a script
It hasn't been racing for years now

They already do. The last lap cautions appear when needed.

Or maybe if they left a little early, they wouldn't have to drive so fast.

Yep. We have a nephew that is a crew chief for a NASCAR Truck team. Trying to get around the rules is part of the game.

Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson have all said that the current car is quite a bit harder to drive than the cars of 20 years ago.

Makes you wonder if higher speeds would be better with this aero package? Throw the restrictor plate in the trash and let them get after it.

Throw the restrictor plates in the trash, and take the spoilers, wings and skirts off too. Make them impossible to drive around a corner at full throttle, let them accelerate on straights and pass if the driver has the balls to slide by.

Yeah thats 100lbs on the left rear generated by the pressure difference inside the car.

I had the chance to change tires on a arca car a few races and while the tech isnt as brutal its still tough.
I had a buddy that was a crew chief on an ARCA team in the 90s. The driver/owner was a millionaire that just did it for fun so that had stupid money in it. He told me they did some testing at one of the really fast tracks and put the spoiler on in some way that allowed it to flex and lay flat a speed. There were running laps faster than the cup guys LOL
