Tail lights? A volt meter or test light is your friend.

It's possible you crossed up the green/yellow running lights with the green and yellow tail/signal lights.

In this case of crossing them up your running lights would now be the brighter tail/signal....so when you hit the brake/signal you would not see a change as it is already as bright as it would go.

    Try brake with lights off.

Otherwise....need test light....and test every circuit for function. Start at the vehicle trailer light plug and work your back.....could be as simple as a fuse on the tow veicle.

On all the trucks I've had with the round 7 pin plug, the center pin has been back up lights.

Nice photo. I'm not used to seeing the conductors inside of the splices. Are those heat and melt splices? Anyhow, if you are getting good splices, if you slide heat shrink down your wiring before you crimp, and then coat the splices and wires with Liquid Electric tape in the bottle from Harbor Fright, you can seal the entire connection and make it watertight with a hot air gun.
