NYC is bad, but it’s not gridlock 12-15 lanes bad.. but that could be because NYC is basically confined to the infrastructure they have now without demolishing neighborhoods.
My manager just came back from a week long, statewide DOT regional managers meeting down in Lower Manhattan and he said the bicyclist traffic is insane now. I’ve only been to NYC 3 times and there’s no way I’d drive in that traffic. If we ever go there I’d be taking a train.
i worked in Albany the first 3 years after college and had a 3hr daily commute for 168miles. Essentially zero traffic from the area we live (lowest thruway volume in the state) to 25min outside of Albany. There’s times where I’ve had my car in park on the thruway because of the congestion with 8 lanes of traffic. Always dreaded once I got close that city.
