ML2/Targetlock boat icon

On my ML2 screen I like to have the boat icon on that shows the beam direction. I can't seem to get this working since the last update. It shows the boat icon but no ML beam. Am I missing another setting or another step? Everything else is working great, just won't display the beam direction.

Well now that is interesting. Maybe try a restore default?

I haven't tried that yet, I didn't want to do that out on the water yesterday.

Is your heading sensor working properly and selected in the Data Source menu? To use the boat Icon, it needs both the boat Heading Sensor (either a puck or the trolling motor heading sensor) as well as the internal AHRS in the Mega Live itself. I don't know if this matters, but also be sure AHRS is selected in the Mega Live 2 settings.

So, got into a different boat this year but mostly the same electronics setup. However, I don't have an external heading sensor yet. I removed the Bluetooth heading when I installed the quest. I was under the assumption that the targetlock heading sensor took care of this function.

Your Quest has a built-in Heading Sensor. You just need to subscribe to it in your Data Source settings. If the Quest Heading Sensor is subscribed to in the data source and the trolling motor is in the water, you will have the heading available and the Boat Icon should work properly.

I'll have to check into that. I did not manually change the heading data source and it may not auto configure correctly since the trolling motor is usually not in the water when everything is powered.

Awesome lakes, I head up in June. Took over 20lbs this weekend to win which is not unusual for that lake. Usually if you come if you come in 20-24lbs you get a thank you!

Subscribing to the correct heading took care of the issue.

Also found out that if you don't have the cheap plastic bow guard/motor ramp on your quest, you get no advanced gps features. Bow roller broke mine off on a steep ramp, just put it away and went fishing. Apparently there is a magnet in that plastic that is used to enable advance gps when deployed. Had to do a Walmart parking lot repair with a cheap soldering iron and staples. Learn something new everyday.
