Things are heating up quickly (except for the setback today). Got out after work Thursday to Gregg 58 deg and got them cranking 4'-8'. Did Powdermill Friday and caught them way up in the backwaters on a floating Rap - btw: turtle sexytimes are on, I bumped into several paired up... (Toytus Coitus Interruptus anyone?). Made it to Massasecum Saturday (over 60 deg), and got 7 on the Rapala as well (no love for suspending jerks or cranks or a Ned). Average catch depth was 2' with some under a foot on mud flats, big fish was nearly 3#. Headed to Island today for 2.5 hours, not expecting much. Temp was still 56. I caught my 4 fish - all keepers w/ the biggest over 3# - in ten minutes on a spinnerbait, on a short stretch of steep bank near where they're going to spawn soon. Tried to take the pattern elsewhere, but no go:(

Water's down a bit at the river (dam boards on the upriver lakes maybe?). Island is also a foot low, it took some work to get the boat off the trailer. Greggs low too - there are a couple of big rocks in the propwash hole, and when the water's down like this they are a real hazard to expensive stuff.

Fished my first T of the year yesterday on the Nashua River in Groton. It was a team T and we won with 8 for 20.33 and had lunker at 4.89. A lot of the guys went in to the backwaters to get their fish but I don't think the good ones have moved up yet. We caught all of our fish in the main river dragging a jig down the first break. The water temp stayed around 57 all day. After the rain stopped in the morning we got sunshine, high clear skies, and gusty winds. I was surprised we caught as many fish as we did under those conditions.
