Got to watch a little of the Hartwell event and it hit me

How much time and money braided line saves us on spinning reels. Can you imagine how much line you would have to replace each day due to nicks and line twist in an event like this

I “only” fish 50-60 days a year now, but when I fish, I fish with braid. And I rarely ever change out my braid. Cut off a couple of feet each time I change the leader [no straight braid], but I absolutely have braid on several of my main rods—rods that I use every time out—that has been on the reel for 5+ years. Never ever break the braid, either. On spinning reels, the only issue I’ve had with braid is that some of it is prone to wind knots. Just a little slack in the line when you’re changing lures or whatever, and bazinga, huge wind knot. I mostly use PowerPro on spinning outfits now; mostly 15 pound test. On baitcasters I use PowerPro but experiment more with other stuff, just to see if I like it. Daiwa J Braid has been bad for me on wind knots: very very limp.

I fish my braid almost a full season then will turn it around onto another spool so the line that was under is now fresh braid on top been doing that, for a few years works great .i also found lighter braid tends to get more wind knots I use 30 lbs power pro and adjust the leader for different water color or cover

Braid is what makes spinning usable got a buddy that refuses to switch 3 or 4 times a day he is digging out a mess.

Only use my bass rods about 12-15 times a year. Some of the braid on my reels is more than 8 years old and still holding up fine

I never use braid and rarely have a problem on my spinning reels. Most guys spool too much line on them . The line manufacturers got fishermen suckered into buying 2 of their most expensive lines instead of just one .

Wrong braid ^. If your braid hangs limp like sewing thread when loose, pitch it and get PowerPro, and nothing lighter than 15 pound test. 20 is better.

yeah I use 15 or 20 pretty much on all my spinning setups - usually bright green Daiwa J-Braid since I bought soem on sale a few years ago. Stuff lasts a long time lol. I bought some xplasma 18 to switch to (Todd C suckered me in lol), but the J-Braid is still going strong.

All I use is braid on spinning. On the flip side all I use is flouro for the most part on baitcast with mono on a couple setups for top water. Refuse to use braid on a baitcaster because I hate how it handles and flouro holds up better around rocks anyway.

Use Berkley X9 braid in 10# and 8 to 10# Saugar flouro leader, very happy with this setup!

Lne management is the key...never reel slack line. Always close the bail by hand etc.

I cast my spinning rod like a baitcaster....finish cast with rod tip low. Touch the spool with my finger to stop the line...close the bail with my free hand...then raise the rod tip. Takes all the slack out of the line and puts you in contact with the bait.If Im fishing deep water and need my bait to freefall then I will feather it with my free hand as well then close the bail when the bait hits bottom.

Some reels are better than others. (Shimano Stradics and Stellas twist line way less than Daiwa Exist IMO) But with braid line twist is not the issue...it is reeling in loose line.
My wife still uses Daiwa Exists for all her rods except the ones that have straight fluorocarbon....those are all Stellas. She rarely has any wind knots unless its really blowing

The Daiwa Grand braid works great for us...as well as the Y-Zuri.
