2007 250 pro XS skipping later in the day

Seeing if anyone has had this issue. Went last week and adter
lunch went to get on plane and felt the motor start skipping. Set it down and then it had no power to get back on plane. Idled back and trailered. Come home and checked spark plugs. All were firing but one had a broken insulator. Changed all of them with the proper plugs. Nkg IR. 23$ each. Took it the next day and it ran fine but only ran 5-10 minutes. Went back yesterday and boat ran fine until after lunch and the same skip began. Once it got on plane it would skip and almost hit like a power band a few times. Only able to run 30 mph back to trailer. Seems to crank and idle fine. But skip once you try to get on plane and then will not get on plane. Came home and checked alternator and it’s putting 14.7 volts to battery when cranked. Battery had 12.9v before I cracked it. Leaning towards a coil issue but wanted to see if anybody has seen this type issue before. It’s seems to be an electrical component that heats up during the day and then shows itself.

That’s what I’m leaning towards. I took the top off and ran it last night and you can see all the coils working properly. {you can barely see the flash from each spark plug in the dark}. But that being said it’s running fine until after lunch. When everything is heating up. My next step is to buy a new coil and when the issue happens again swap each coil to see if that fixes it. Thanks for the reply

Had a coil failure on my 07 about 10 years ago. There’s several updated versions. Had a distinct miss. Moved coil to a different cylinder and miss followed it. Replaced and carried a spare for years. Buddy needed it.

If you had a broken insulator- I'd be checking that powerhead for damage in any cylinder. That material is hard enough to leave a pretty good mark on a piston, cylinder head, or direct injector.

If you would, please take a moment to review the Announcements at the top of the Forum, and be sure to provide the Required Info (serial number) when posting. Thanks!
