'It gets sucked in'
I think Ronnie's just lying, tbh. Or more correctly, not telling the full story. TBH, Ronnie just does not come across as a guy who tells the truth - kinda gives of insurance salesman scam vibes... he's always going to spin the company line - hell his post classic podcast is a great example. Anyway, apparentlyit was sit out day one or or pay a hefty fine. So the angers pays the fine (of course, sitting out a full day is like the death penalty, esp on a low weight event), therefore Ronnie can say "No one's sitting out day one".
I did notice that B.A.S.S's website is covered in Humminbird ads so that kinda disputes that Garmin is paying BASS to keep FFS, because if that was the case you would think that it would be covered in Garmin ads and not Hummingbird. So who knows
I don’t know who this guy is, but here’s my thoughts.
If BASS individually (privately) asked each angler what their opinion of FFS is, 1) how do all of the anglers know the results, and 2) it doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things what their opinion is.
If it’s true that Garmin is paying BASS a “large sum of money” to ensure FFS is legal, then sponsors ultimately help make decisions. Without sponsor money, these guys aren’t fishing for a living, they’re laying brick, mowing grass, or selling used cars. That’s just reality.
If the anglers don’t like decisions made by BASS or feel like their demands are being ignored, there’s other leagues to fish. The split to BPT 6 or so years ago was due to anglers perception they weren’t being listened to. I said back then it was a matter of time before these guys started complaining.
The drama is beyond ridiculous. You don’t like Garmin underwriting your ability to make a living? Go fish NPFL or BPT.
FFS is a learned skill. It appears too many of these guys still think they can put the boat in the garage at the end of the season and sit in a deer stand, and prefer throwing a frog, spinnerbait, or jig to visible structure. They can do that in another league.
Ronnie just seems like a snake. Can’t put my finger on it, but just seems like someone I couldn’t trust.
Davy and Tommy though I feel like are two top notch individuals. Weird how vibes from people come off.
