Keeping my Ranger Bass boat for now. Will probably sell it in a few years and buy a Ranger Bay boat. I miss catching fish that put up a good fight compared to a Bass.

I have been “boat less bank trash” before and I can can go back to it. I would do a few guided smallmouth trips.

I ain’t selling the one I have until I can no longer fish. Something might happen to it and if so I will get another. Might be an aluminum rig or not. I have a 14 ft flat bottom we small lake and slough fish out of. I can survive with non of them if I had to. Thank goodness I don’t.

Good catch, guess that is the answer! If I sell this boat, I've got to replace with another boat of some kind!

Last year my boat was gone for 4 months. I did have a boat to use from a buddy, but didn't use outside of tournaments. So I fished rivers and streams. Did some pond fishing as well. Was reminded how much I like catching smallmouth and walleye in the rivers around here.

    What else am I missing?
I sold my 2018 PHX21 to a buddy for below market. (With the understanding, I could borrow it, but we both knew I wouldn’t) I’d been to ElSalto and Baccarac, probably 10 times. After I sold the boat, I went to Mexico, probably 4-5 times a winter… I’ve caught numerous 7lbers… a bunch of 8s, and 3 over 10#. The hospitality is AMAZING! Ya, it would have been cheaper to keep the boat , but I’ve had a lot more fun! But then again, I live in Illinois

That's what I am talking about. You make it sound tempting.

As crazy as it has gotten on the water these days, if I did sell the boat I don't think I would miss it. Thanks to a good friend allowing me access thru his land, I have a wonderful place to bank fish and wade, and kayak the Coosa. I go there as much or more than I go in the boat. Been going since I was old enough to drive. Feels like home. If I was boatless, I would pursue more pond fishing opportunities.

I'm keeping my 1775 Lund Renegade but adding a smaller boat to see how I like it. Putting a 25 Yamaha and a 45lb Terrova with a 5" Helix on a G3 15ft mod v aluminum with a casting deck.

Who knows, if it will fish ok on a larger lake, I'll go with it only.

That's fantastic! If I had to do it over again I would do exactly what I posted- kayak and camper and forget about fishing all these overfished, tournament-crazy waters. There are so many small, sleepy, underfished lakes around me and I enjoy camping. Plus, I would use the camper for hiking and mountain biking trips as well. But I keep going to the Basscat site and dreaming about a Cougar and pondering color combinations on the Dream Builder so you know where my heart is.

This is similar to what I'm cooking up. Got the truck camper and boat on order for mid June. Plan on hitting the state park lakes and other smaller (1,000 acres and less) lakes in my region. I think the proper term is "downsizing".

Time kids and work had me sell mine quite a few years ago and I got back to basics. I fished ponds and creeks when I could. I got into Kayaks and really enjoyed that too. Of coarse the bug bit me and I bought another boat and forgot how much I missed it.
