Is someone sitting out day one at Hartwell?

I just heard that an elite series angler may be sitting out on day one at Hartwell because they "spoke out" on Garmin paying Bassmasters so that Live scope can be on the elite series boats, and that the majority of anglers previously voted to not have it this season, but that BASS is keeping that on the hush. is this true? has anyone else heard this and does anyone know who that may be?

An unofficial vote? Couldn't have been offical

Bassmaster doesn't seem to communicate much to their anglers about the plan moving forward. The roster is getting younger every year. I doubt a majority voted for no FSS.

I get a kick out of all this "younger angler" BS I am 50 years old and can scope with the best of them. I think it is a tool and if you're a professional angler and you can't use it then you should get out. I have a full-time job, and my lakes are frozen over for a few months a year and I have mastered it as a hobby. Excuses and pure laziness...

It's not that hard to learn. If the people complaining about it were winning with it would they still be complaining? Think about it

I know a lot of 50 plus individuals that are extremely Tech Savvy who learned more from their own experiences than anywhere else.

Some of them are Bass Fishermen and not intimidated by FFS two offered to teach me if I get a unit. I told them it would be frustrating task and go do a lesser challenge like climbing Mt Everest.

Yup. A big pile of "best" anglers in the world are still crying about ffs yet they've had several YEARS to learn it. If I had the luxury of being a professional angler you bet I'd spend all the time I could learning how to use it.
Boo hoo that some would rather flip bushes or throw a spinnerbait all day. Go do that at home between tournaments and quit whining.

I think this has been discussed enough. It’s getting old.

Not many 50 year olds winning on Live Scope dominated national tournaments. Facts are facts, the younger anglers are way ahead of us in our Middle Ages. I’ve learned to accept it. Been several middle aged guys around the TVA lakes that say “they can Scope with the best of them” only to donate to the young anglers every tournament. I’ve came to accept that the true “Scopers” are anglers in their teens & twenties.

Maybe so but ain't nobody 50+ coming out of the Opens anymore. The format switch may help a little but the average age from the Opens to the Elites has never been younger.

    Total bullshit.

The reason you think this has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with attitude, energy, and intellectual curiosity.

Hopefully you are correct. Look forward to seeing your name at the top in the upcoming Northern Toyota & B.A.S.S. Open tournaments.

You tournament people sure do get wound up over something that's supposed to be a means of relaxation and a pastime.

A narrow-minded mindset doesn't help your argument, and it's unfortunate that you seem to think that winning bass tournaments are the only fishing accomplishment that exists.

Professional tournament fishing is hard work. So naturally younger people are more able to cope with it and have the energy and time to learn new technology. But the argument that older people can’t learn it is bull chit! My 58 year old friend is a Crappies nightmare! It may just not be for everyone though. Some people never look at their electronics and still do just fine and have a good time.

Good comeback. I agree that age is just a number, *until* you start getting so set in your ways that you expect the world to adjust to YOU. That does happen, but intellectual curiosity and a willingness to explore new things are a great antidote. I’ve always wondered why most in the boating business barely do email. Or if they do, they check email once a week. There’s a strong tendency for those with a long history in the sport to want things to stay the same as they were. That’s a way of thinking, though, and not a necessity of age.
