RETIREMENT - At what age did you or will you throw in the towel?

For me, I will leave when I'm 69. Some say why work that long and others think I'm crazy. I enjoy my job and my relationships with most all of my customers and a few company employees that I will miss the most about retirement. I also want my goal of 30 years tenure with the company. They already have my replacement and I've trained her for the last 2 years. She's good to go but I'm not. Maybe they will try and push me out now? I doubt it. I hope to live to 85 so that'll still get me 15+ years of retirement. As long as my health is good and I still enjoy waking up and dealing with all the crap, I'm gonna stick it out. How about you?

I was on track to retire this year (55) until changes to healthcare made it impractical to retire due to the insanely high prices. I'll probably go until 60 or 62.

well I don't enjoy dealing with all the computer crap and supply issues. Most of the people I work with are great but it is the few bad ones that make it difficult to want to come in to work in the morning. I will most likely never retire but I don't know about the computer garbage anymore. We have gotten to a point where the computer people are running some of these companies and that is not good in my experience. As soon as I can start drawing SS I will. CJ

I retired at 58 1/2. I'm 65 now. My career, because of the retirement system I was part of, allowed me to walk out the door making the same amount the day I retired that I was making the day before when I was working. This included paying my health insurance until I turned 65 and it still pays my Medicare Advantage plan. With less expenses and less stress of getting up and going to work it was a no brainer for me.

55 was my goal but ended up liking what I did, and the money was even better so at 65 I retired.

    I retired January of 2024 at 72.
I worked at a company that's family owned and actually cares about their people.
Had a great time with them and had a hard time convincing myself to retire.

I just turned 60 last week and 62 is going to be it. The day I turn 62 I'm gone and will not look back for 1 second. People can work as long they want but in my opinion the longer you stay is the more healthier years you will miss out on. I want at least 10 years of being in decent shape retired. Once the body gets in the upper 60's everything starts to come apart.

64 and change. I left on my 35th anniversary with company. Do not miss the job a bit, but do miss some of the people.

Just retired 3/12. Age 64-5 months. 3/14, colon surgery. Dr's orders were 8 weeks recovery. Still have a bit over two weeks to go. Was going to retire at the end of March anyhow. Going to work on the current home to get on the market for sale. Then moving to our retirement location. Hopefully things go better here soon. Do I MISS WORK ?? HELL NO.

62, but I still maintain my insurance license and all Medicare related annual training. You'll know when it's time. I swore I would not retire until at least 67. Covid hit and I was sent home for about 6 months from my then contract job. I went back for a short time, Uncle Sam decided to award the contract I worked under to a HUGE foreign company which drove me nuts so I threw in the towel.

50 now, and may never fully retire, I think having a job for 2-3 days a week after I turn 70 will probably be in my future, I think as long as your health is good, and you enjoy being busy, working a little here and there is just good for a person and leads to longevity and better overall health and well being. Now when I get closer to that 70 year mark I may think differently but for now I am leaving part time work in my future.
