My first time shooting a rifle in a super long time. 41 years I think.

My gimpy butt bought a few rifles last year because all these medical staff people say I need to do something, because I will only get worse and hurt more doing nothing. And I know I can't be on a bass boat fishing in my shape. Maybe a pontoon, but I don't know a local that gets out in a pontoon. Maybe one day I will get myself up to the Hernando chain on Tsala Apoka chain in Inverness where I have retired family with a pontoon, though I have a hard time setting still to long. And when I feel I can cast a spinning reel. No way I could cast a bait caster right now.
But, to the subject. I got my gimpy butt to the range today. Out there struggling, gimping around. The first range boss taped me up a target at the pistol range. It was nice of him, but he used lots of my tape and didn't do well with it. The next time the range went cold I taped it back up myself, using a lot less of my tape. I won't show anything on the pistol shooting, I ain't trying to give anyone a good laugh here.
But I will show my first rifle shooting in what seems like forever. New Bear Creek .223 Wylde and new scope. I did after mounting the scope play with adjustments in the house, and locked everything down. Just figured I would be close.
Today was my first time out with 2. But because my slow gimpy butt takes so long, I only had time to shoot the one. I left the Colt M4 5.56x45 in the truck the whole time. Because it got to late. So I haven't shot it yet. But in photos is my first 30 rounds down range at 75 yards. Not great. But I got my gimpy butt out and tried. I adjusted the scope up, thinking it would actually get my shots hitting lower. Wrong. Up is up.

I know the photos ain't that good, but my gimpy butt wasn't about to walk out there. And all I had was my phone. And I am not tech savvy. So I am not going to mess with my settings in my camera, I would probably really mess things up. But I got lots in the big red bulls eye. A number a little high. And I believe 3 just over the the right of the red. I am happy with it for my first time. I am resting my hurting self, with numbness and tingling off and on pretty frequently in my left hip, leg, and foot. It's thickly a bit. My right foot has the burning pain *****ly feeling that my left even gets at times. With hurt in my back, not mentioning other parts. But I will hopefully get my truck unloaded at some point. And I have to adjust the scope. I am hoping to get myself good at distance shooting over time. I want to try my 6.5 Creedmoor next I think. I don't know when that will be?
Thanks for checking out my thread, and I hope everyone is doing well.
It was nice of the 3rd and last range boss to carry my stuff to the truck when I got done.

Good job getting out and getting some range time. Being out there doing stuff is what’s most important. Enjoy yourself and go st your pace. Bet you enjoy shooting that Colt when you get it to the range.

Thanks. I will eventually shoot the Colt and find out. I am sure I will, like I enjoyed today. I have hauled it to the range before, but stuck to just pistols. Before they had told me I had to head to another part of the range to shoot a rifle. I am thinking maybe something to do with as busy as it was those times. It wasn't that busy today. And I heard one guy as long as he was just trying to sight a scope in, or just use a rifle to get used to it. And I asked just to make sure I heard correctly. And it was a first for me so I was good and could stay. Hopefully when ever I finally get back out there I will hit it slow again, and be able to try one of the others there to try and get sighted in. My pistols I messed up by switching to different ones each time. Or I will blame it on that.

Putting a scope on a 30-30 that was a gift to me and a brother one Christmas. And trying to get it sighted in was my thought when I made this thread. But I did shoot a 22 long rifle a few years after that I wasn't thinking about. Hurting and tired when I made this. Plus my memory issues from concussions, and never being to bright in the first place. But it has still definitely been a long break in-between. I don't know how long in-between I will have, but I did enjoy it.
