    Cost of new windows!!!

Got a quote for nice windows and a couple doors to replace 28-y/o originals in a two story, 4-bedroom house.
Got sticker-shocked for sure, $38k! Figured I’d get another quote, but seriously, is that the reality these days?

Holy shit!!! Not sure if it would be any better but I'd shop around alot......probably will be the "norm".....

About 14 yrs ago we had our changed out on an old house, called a local contract that does that work it was about $3k. We then called Sears and they had a fancy sales pitch etc. and theirs came in around $14k.....

Crazy times we are in hope you can find them cheaper....

That may the going rate, but ain’t no way I’d pay that. Some you tube videos and patience, you can do it yourself and save yourself $30k.

Do them yourself, it's incredibly easy. Shouldn't cost you more than 3 to 4 hundred apiece.

This. A regular double hung replacement is easy.

20 windows and two doors, each with screen doors (1/3rd of the total cost).
The whole thing was packaged, then "discounted by 35%", so taking the doors off will likely change the formula....
Don't want to dog on the nationally known brand/company, so I'll leave their name out of it.

If the frames are in good shape perhaps look into just re-paning the glass. We did that last year - 16 windows and a 10 ft sliding patio door was about $8K and was done in a day and a half.

I sell Marvin windows, yes, sticker shock for everyone these days and especially previous buyers. You could always buy el-cheapo vinyl though.

You can't even buy a cheap vinyl window for 300 today, don't speak about what you don't know.
And for all you guys that say, do it yourself, it's easy. Anything can be easy id you don't care about the end results.
I see the "easy" all the time, guess what the Mrs. is getting easy replaced because "easy" looks like sheet.

I got a quote to replace one set of french doors from Anderson. $12k (10k for door, 2k for install). We said no thanks and reached out to our local Provia dealer.

That is a lil high even for high end windows & 2 doors.

I think you should be $800-$1,000 per window plus doors installed for a quality window, which would be a fair price.
