Deep fried them for a few years. Until the oil cost more than the Turkey.

Deep fried is really good but I prefer them smoked. A buddy of mine smokes em then finishes them in a deep fryer.

I really like DFT but to be honest I like a traditional oven roasted preparation better but I am a fein when it comes to mashed potatoes and gravy.

Fried Turkey is the best…. Damn oil is so expensive now…. The oiless fryers do Ok but it’s just not the same…. I just bite the bullet and buy the peanut oil and save it after I use it… it lasts a while and can be used a few times..

I’ve yet to do one, but I had a buddy at work that passed away used to make them every year. He’d make a few of them for our Thanksgiving day meal at work. He would inject them with his own mixture and it was probably the best Turkey I’ve ever ate.

I learned this method one year when the damn bird didn't get to the proper temp in time in the smoker. I always smoke one and fry one for Thanksgiving, so I figured why not fry the bird for a few just to get it up to temp. It worked out so good. The smoke flavor was great, but the frying to finish it elevated the taste to another level.

I'd move that from under the shed. Looks like a tragic accident about happen that would otherwise be a stain on the gravel.

My first DFT, my daughter and her cousin kept complaining about how gross it looked as they peeled chunks off to eat. Probably quit complaining after the first quarter pound each.

Pretty much same with me. I didn't mind so much when oil was $29. When oil made the big leap to $40+ I said no more. Turkey just aint that good and I was cutting out fried food anyway.

It was starting to rain and we’ve deep fried more turkeys and crappie fillets under that roof than most people have eaten..

That has kept me from doing it for years. If we eat turkey it’s likely going to be spatchcocked and smoked.
