    Smart craft for 2001 ?

    serial #OT389967 2001 225 Optimax

Ive read some 2001`s were smart craft ready , can this be confirmed by serial # ?

Heard of stickers on cowl , this one was long ago repainted

From what I see smartcraft connect mobile is for 2004 and later

Definitive compatibility is limited to Version 3.0 and earlier.

Definitive compatibility , meaning serial # indicates is was a low level smartcraft motor ?

I`m redoing the dash of the boat and getting rid of two 3 3/8 holes for gauges - speedo and a flasher ,mounting a graph across that area ,leaving analog rpm
want to make sure I dont make a mistake for future

I have analog temp , water pressure ,trim and rpm . Would like confirmation of rpm and temp if a monitor version 1.2 or 2.0 would do that, but if not still would like some of the trouble warning screens if nothing else

I`m redoing the rigging tube and if I need to run something for a monitor now would be best , or does the 3' harness plug into something already at the control box ?

If this motor needs to be replaced and I pick up someone's optimax from their repower thats newer I`d like to then have info on my garmin or

You can use a System Monitor, or you can use a System Tach & Speed up to version 3.0.

Any of the above can drive System-Link gauges, to outfit an entire dash.

System Link gauges are backward-forward compatible with previous "SYSTEM" series instruments.

Could I leave all the analog gauges and still install a monitor for warning type functions , I know trim wont work without a 3 wire sensor . would rpm work still having an analog rpm gauge , would temp work still having an analog temp gauge .
The monitor seem to have a 3' cord , is an extension available .

I`m guessing this is what its plugged20250315_133239.jpg into

I replaced my Smartcraft Sytem Monitor long ago, best I can recall it will provide basic information, RPM, Temp, Voltage, Water Pressure, forget what else. You'll need a Smartcraft data cable from engine to dash.

Yes and Yes EXCEPT that you can't use the Temp circuit on this engine to read ENGINE temp. Engine temp is Smartcraft ONLY (the analog circuit is actually connected to the AIR COMPRESSOR).

I remember you ( Don ) saying that about analog temp . One of the main reasons I would want a monitor is to have accurate motor temp , along with warning details other than just beep , and accurate rpm , while leaving the analog rpm, trim and water pressure .

If I use a 2 1/8" SC1000 pn79-879896k21 would the correct extension be 84-879982 ? would this go thru the rigging tube or be joined in the compartment to the three foot cord that comes with the monitor . Reason is I`m doing the rigging tube now and the total boat improvements is going to take awhile .
From what I read I don't have to reverse any of the analog wiring thats been done to do this ..?

    Thanks

879982T__ (20, 25 or 30 depending on length). In YOUR case (different from other installs): Plug engine end into engine, and the other end plugs directly into the System Monitor (you do not need the Tach/Monitor harness that comes with it).

Analog instruments will continue to function until or unless you add a digital trim sensor, or a fuel/oil/paddle harness.
