What would you be connecting the NBT to?
YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!

For the price, I'd go with the NBT destroyer. The screen is not quite as good as the garmin 8600 series imo, but really close. My NBT 16" is much better in direct sunlight than my old 1222 was

I put 2 NBT 16" up front and had them connected to two 8612s. I can see my bait (jerkbait, minnow, ned drop-shot) out to 90+ feet. Half the price and give a pretty good picture when you get it dialed in. On the boat for about a year now and no issues.

We have a 1643. Same resolution as the 8616. Love it for live scope

I don't own either, but from what my contacts tell me the 8616 is a sight to behold and a much better image than the 8612. Defies logic, but there is something about it they say...

I went with the 1643. It’s pretty insane. Very happy.

I also went with a 1643xsv and really like it. I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to want to try out the RMP 19" flex next season but I'll have to re-do my entire bow design for it so I'm holding off.

Im happy with the 16. I don’t think I’ll go any bigger.

For me it'd be moving from 3 screens on the bow to 2 bigger ones.

8616 and 1643 has some resolution, but with sea clear wiring and a good 16v lithium battery the 8616 will show the bottom better.

The voltage supplied makes no difference as long as it is within spec at the unit. Outside this range a warning is displayed and usually the unit will shut down. How good a target is recognized (lure, fish or bottom) is determined by the transducer, black box and box software. That data is sent to the unit to be displayed. Any difference on the unit would be due to resolution, screen size and settings. I have been running both the 8616 and 1643 for well over a year. Both have identical wiring from a lithium 12v battery. The only differences I have seen have been due to unit settings such as gain, color gain, color limit, noise control. etc.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.
