Multiple screen layout with side imaging

I want to set up a custom page for my HDS Live 12 unit with 4 windows. Long Left window with left side scan only, middle two windows with 2d sonar and down imaging, and right long window with right side only down imaging. How do I select only one side on the side imaging to add it to a window? Thanks.

Tap the pane, hit menu, hit view and tap the direction you want

To add to NoCAL's post. Once you get the page set up like you want, side scan on the left, 2d and down scan in the two middle panes and side scan on the right, hit save. The page should now appear on the right side of the home page. Select it, then tap the left side scan pane, it should now be highlighted around the edges, then go menu, view and select left, do the same thing for the right.

Hey ........ I like that idea !!!! I'm going to give it a try, but have chart in the middle. I'm wonder too, how that would work for structure map?

Definitely going to give it a try. Thanks for posting that question Bankangler. And thank you NoCal and justinp61 for the instructions on how to do it.

Thanks and I’ll give it a shot. Forgot to mention that this unit is on the stern of my walleye boat so I’ll have to switch sides and have the right downscan on the left side of the screen and the left downscan on the right. Thanks NorCal and Justin.

Don't forget that you can adjust the pane sizes (splits) by pressing the power button, then adjust splits. I use the configuration discussed above but narrow my downscan and 2DSonar panes to maximize my side scan panes.

You can also do the same with putting two charts in the middle and set one to your C-Map chart and the other to your Navionics map so you can benefit from two different maps in the same view. In each chart pane simply go to menu and choose the source of the map you wish in that pane, then save.

I was thinking the same thing Bankangler. My 3 in 1 is flush mounted to the step behind the pad, so it's backwards of what a transom mount would be. And Marc, yes ..... definitely going to take advantage of the adjust splits option.

I think this idea is going to be quite useful. Can't wait to give it a try !!

This is my most used screen. Side on the outsides with Map and 2D in the middle.

I just went out and set up my HDS Pro 9 at the console the side scan panes separated by a chart screen in the middle. Thinking that because my transducer is mount backwards to what it would be were it transom mount, I didn't think the flip right left would carry through to selecting just a right or a left view, but it does. So if you have flip right and left selected, you run the view left in the left side pane, and view right, on the right.

Tried my above mentioned set up for the first time, yesterday. I liked it, but I'll have to run it more before I decide if I am going to stick with it. I had it set up on my console unit, which is 9 inch screen, and even after playing with various screen splits, I just found it ...... odd to view. I liked it better if I was in 10' of water or less, because being on a smaller screen, the water column took up too much of the pane size for my liking, when in deeper water.

I would really love it if Lowrance came out with an update that allowed you to eliminate the water column if you so choose. That is an update I would definitely perform.

I tried adding a pane for 2D as others have mentioned above. And while I liked having the 2D on the screen, the small screen size pretty much makes that a no go. At least for me. I really didn't mess with the side scan range that much though. I'll give that a try the next time out, to see if increasing the range will make me like it a little more.

The layout itself isn't the problem for me .... it's my screen size. Very cool set up though.

Agree, it really takes a 12” screen to split in this format

For the side imaging windows, you can customize each window by selecting either the left or right side scan in the "Source" or "Window Setup" options. Just make sure to pick "Left Side Imaging" for the left window and "Right Side Imaging" for the right one. For the 2D and Down Imaging, you can select them separately and adjust their size within the middle windows.

NoCal ..... yeah. I went out to the garage and played with it a little more. Love the idea of the set up, but with my screen size I just can't get it to where I like it enough to stick with it.

Still hoping for an update from Lowrance that will allow having the choice of eliminating the water column in side scan. Fingers crossed on that one.
