    2025 HVAC BRAND HELP NEEDED

Building a new home and trying to research which hvac brand is more reliable. I understand that the new Freon allegedly have prices soaring but which units are actually worth the money.
im looking at Trane, Carrier and Rheem but open to real world feedback from experienced folks.
    Many Thanks
    Respectfully,
    Captain Rab

Think the installer is just as important as the brand. I did trane a year ago, but I've known and trusted my installer for 30+ years. We discussed a bosch/trane hybrid but stuck with all trane.

I had a Carrier dual stage unit installed 5 or 6 years ago. I don't recall the seer rating but it seems pretty efficient. No issues at all with it so far. I could have had it done cheaper but the company that installed it does the annual maintenance and guarantee response if needed nights and weekends which is pretty important down here. I've seen coworkers over the years go 2-3 days without a/c. I'm not willing to take that chance.

Most of the major players are pretty good, and some of their sub lines. Installation is critical for all them. Line size, duct sizing and design..

I put in a Amana 8 years ago when I replaced my gas pack for the down stairs. Have not had a single problem on the gas or a/c side. Just replaced the upstairs heat pump and went with Amana as well. Cools great and quite as well. The Amana comes with a lifetime guarantee on the compressor.

Brand does not matter these days imo. I would look at who has the strongest support around you, and the installer. I would take an airease put in by a bang up installer versus a trane put in by a hack. The newer 454/32 systems are still new, so we have not seen much long term usage yet. That being said we are a lennox dealer. Im not a brand snob by any stretch.

To be honest they are all about the same. The most important thing is the installer and competent service afterwards if needed.

The guy that owns the HVAC company we use is my neighbor and sells multiple brands. Carrier, Rheem, and Bryant.

He said that all are very similar but Bryant’s warranty work for him is so much easier. I’ve known this guy for 15 years and he has had his business for 30 and has 17 employees.

I know it’s not much to go off but we’ve been very happy with our Bryant

I’ve been in the trade since 1999. To me there is no brand that is on top and far superior to others. The dealer/install team is the most important. Can the installing company run a manual J, manual D and manual S?? Are they NATE certified? Do they hold current licensing and insurance? How’s there company reviews? Do they sub out there work or do they actually employ and train there own teams?? These are some of the more important questions when choosing a hvac system. Since your building the manual J/D/S is a must. If you have any questions shoot me a pm.

The initial installation is way more important than the brand, most brands are the same 10 years warranty now, after 26 years in industrial hvac , I’d get the least expensive unit with the best warranty, hopefully find a scratch and dent deal

Get a Goodman, save the money.

Have a good install done, and a Goodman contractor grade will run as good as any of the higher priced brands.

Other than that, I’ve found Rheem/Rudd systems are very reliable, but are maintenance required.

Lennox is still known for bad evap coils. Trane tends toward over engineered, customer unfriendly systems. Carrier has good systems, that run for very long times, but stay away from their high end stuff.

Get the best warranty, register your system, and have a solid install to back it up.
