    Fletcher's Pond

Takin our annual trip up there for a week next Sunday (6/11-6/17). Just wonderin if anyone has fished there yet, and what the bite is like, and what do I have to bring to catch em if you don't mind. Thanks for any info. I will report back when I am back on how we did, and what we did it with.

Good luck to all, and hook em in the mouth!!

    Re: Fletcher's Pond (bucks9009)

I fish Mio Pond quite often, howver I have fished Fletcher's Pond twice I would have to say the same tactics work for both. (They can be expensive tactics though).

Smallmouth are almost always located off the points of the "Old Channel" were you can find a few loggs that I trapped on the surface by standing timber. I will usually through a firetiger or shad floating rapala.

Large mouth have been more difficult to pattern with all the timber and flats, but I usually start with a frog over the grass and a fluke/senko. If the pike are up in the flats try a texas rig in the 5 -7' areas. ( Spinner Baits will usually get you far more pike than Bass)

    Good luck

    Thanks BassinMI,

I was using pretty much the same techniques you explained, but did not get close enough to the big weedbed on the south east side of the lake to use the frog. We got a lot of fish on f-11 rapalas, and more pike on spinners. I did throw a #4 mepps and was pretty succesfull as well, as a matter of fact, my best fish for the week, a 3.5#/20 inch smallie was with the mepps. I will post pics of the trip when I get them downloaded. We also had limited success with pop-r's and chug-bugs when the fish were not biting other lures. This was mid week, it just seemed to die off, and the slow pop-rs and chug bugs seemed to trigger the bite, most of the time before we even moved the plug, just let it sit there for 20-30 seconds.

Good luck to anyone heading up there the rest of the summer. The bass are safe from me until next June.

Dont forget to Hook em in the mouth!!!

Makin' the annual trip in about a week. We will be at Fletchers on the 9th of June through the week.

Any advice on lures to stock up on before I go?

I'm gonna try and make the Fletchers pond tournament on June 23. The Alpena bass club puts on this open with a max of 60 boats.

I took 1st place at Jacks Landing out of 114 boats two years ago. I took 5th out of 105 boats the year before. I know it pretty good.

    Re: Fletcher's Pond (21XDC)

I cant make this one... My daughter has a fri night dance recital and I cant pull an all nighter. Oh well... My girl will be all grown up before I know it and I cant get those days back... She's almost 13 and I have not missed much of her doings.
