    Susky Flats 5/30

Fished from 7 till noon to beat the pleasure boat crowd.

Traps again, bite came at the tide change right as soon as I pulled up on the flats.

8 keepers. Around 15 pounds for the 5 biggest. Water temp was up to 73 degrees.

One close to 5, couple of fat 3's, rest were all 2 + . Ramp was busy with pleasure boaters at noon, always good for some entertainment..

I have always avoided the flats, the size of that area is pretty intimidating. Dont know where I would start...Do any areas produce better then others or do u just pick a starting point and work your way through it?

Most people that say they fished the flats for bass don't really mean they fished the wide open middle. Most people are fishing the banks and channels around the north west and northern area banks and channels.

Just fish the edge of the channels, fish have been coming in 2 - 3 feet of water right off the flat.

Went out this morning to do a little prefishing for the weekend. Fished the grass edges on the drop offs around garrett island on the 6mph zone side. Threw senkos, crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Caught a bunch but all under 15". Fished a few other random simular spots and everything caught was under 15". I belong to two clubs, both are having a tournament up out of tydings sat and sun. Its gonna be a miserable weekend if I cant catch anything of size.

I have never fished around the island very much. Just have to be very careful on the western side.

I was just there for 3 days fishing and I can tell you I saw some Big fish shallow in the grass 2-3ft, some nice fish on docks 3-4ft and I caught nothing on the rocks--good luck
