The reply's below are assuming you are launching at a ramp that actually has a dock or walkway next to it. Obviously not all ramps have that type of set up so your reply is correct ... it won't work without a ramp situated with a dock or walkway next to it

I do this as well with my Powerpoles.

Have to make sure the ramp isn’t too steep to allow this to work though. One ramp I frequent is in a narrow canal where the ramp is too steep for the poles to get to the bottom once the front of the boat gets in enough water to be able to come off the trailer.

While I'd still tie the boat off just in case, shallow water anchors help when launching in windy conditions to help keep the boat from swinging around on you--I remember launching the boat and seeing my boat swung around 180-degrees after I parked the truck and trailer and walking back to the dock. I was thinking to myself that I need to start saving money for shallow water anchors if I want to expand my boat ramp options and wind conditions that I want to fish.

Do poles hold well on a cement ramp? My talons just skid along if there is any breeze from the side of the boat.

They do if you have Silver Bullet tip spikes like the ones that KandKKustomz sells.

That matters? They get good grip on the cement?

No way that would work where I unload. Double ramp, dock is50-60 ft to the right. Then a 200 yd walk after parking.

They sure do. If you fish around rock they make a huge difference as well.

There are way too may different situations to say one size fits all.

I would recommend NOT tossing that rope in the trash as suggested. Instead, evaluate each situation and have options to deal with anything you come across. But I guess some people go to the same ramp , same dock, same conditions every trip, so there's that.

The depth makes a difference. I have the stock tips on 8' poles, and if they barley reach the bottom it will skip like you mentioned. If not I have not had any problems , even n the wind.

Because some docks are 5 or. 6 feet from the boat when it is backed down.
