Been catching fish in this area for last few weeks. Water is super low, and most bass are 12-14", but I have caught a 5 pounder recently. There have been reports of (2) 7 pounders coming out of this area as well. When the water comes up a little fishing will be awsome. Spillway and Verrett also giving up some fish, but no Hawgs yet, 4lbs has been the best.

The water has been a little muddy with some of the winds we have been having. Alot of the grass is gone. We have hand better luck in Lafitte catching bass, specks & reds in the same spot.

Haven't tried Salvador yet, it should be getting good, but with the low water,alot of the bass have had to move out of some of the traditionally good spawning bays-- thats why the spots I have been hitting are producing-- they usually aren't as good as they have been lately.

Are you sure they came out of Beouf, I heard the same report, just a different area.

no.. it wasn't Rockweiler.. it was Brad (bradeye) Friloux, and a couple of other guys that I didn't know.
In fact, the guys that won the tournament are both in my bass club.

I had talked to a guy 2 weeks ago that had a 7 from that area, and i had a big one that broke the wire on a spinnerbait before I could touch her, but a definite > 5 lb fish. If your buddies are not fishing right around the lake itself, then I've probably seen them back there. I fish from a Ranger 520 (wht, blk, red) w/ Opti on the back. Yell at me if you ever see me back there.

will do.. I drive a black and gold skeeter 200dx with a 200 johnson venom on the back.. no skeeter logos on the boat though.. they started peeling.
Was that the 2 day event in des allemands, what did it take to win? We fished bayou black for the Blackwater Tournament, ended up with 10 lbs-- water was muddy just about eveywhere. We're also fishing Media Bass out of bayou black on 2/12/06-- if you know anyone who wants to fish a circuit, let them know-- payout is pretty good if we can get some people to sign up, they are also considering an
individual circuit down here if they get enough interest-- Kayce Gunter from des allemands is heading it up, think her husband is Mike, and info is on the Media Bass website.

yeah.. I know Cayce and Mike.. I used to shoot pool with Mike all the time.. there is no way I could fish Media Bass.. most of the tourneys are the day after my bass club tourneys... wife would have a stroke!
And yes.. that was the 2 day event out of Des Allemands.
Hey, wanted to tell you, it didn't click at the time, but I sort of grew up with Chris Wag., hope to see you guys at some open events out of Des Allemands this year. Also if I decide to join a club, I'd probably head that way.
