I am getting gear ready just in case the ice actually leaves the lake and I have a question about reel slippage. I have a Tatula CT100 on my jig rod and noticed last season that when I set the hook it felt like my line slipped. Is there a setting or setup that I can change to fix this or is it an issue with the reel?

I assume drag is cranked all the way down. Could be dirty. If its braided line and there's no backer than the line could be slipping on the spool.
If it’s braid direct connect it very well might be slippage,had it happen.

You can clean all the lube off the drag washers. Drag won't pull out as smoothly, but you can lock it down more since there will be more friction.
It's likely the anti reverse roller bearing contaminated with grease/other oils...clean it out with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and reapply a thin coating of light oil. There's a post about this a couple months ago on BBC, I'll see if I can find the post.

If it's an anti-reverse issue then it needs to be replaced as it is most likely a cracked casing and it's slipping. When the anti-reverse fails you usually get a backlash because the spool spins backwards unless you stop it by holding onto the handle. You can check by just tapping the handle backwards repeatedly and if its go backwards the bearing has failed.
If the handle is not turning backwards it is most likely line slippage. Make sure your spool has some tape on it before attaching line floor can slip as well. Also I would not remove all grease as suggested. The grease is actually needed to help with friction.Dan

You mean like a traditional fly reel? On a FW bass reel, what purpose would that serve?
Just weld the gear to the shaft. You'll probably bend the spool shaft or break some other part on a hook set though.
They do make reels with no drag. Kast King Speed Demon Deadbolt
is one I know of off the top of my head. There are probably
others. Ardent used to make one. Not sure if still do.
That would be a locked down drag. Daiwa had a special OG Zillion (about 15 years ago now) made specifically for frogs and like techs and it was locked down as well.
