115 Optimax shuts off

Trying to help a friend out here. Almost every time he takes the boat out it will run 15 to 20 minutes then shuts off. Then it cranks but doesn’t fire just cranks. So he starts fishing 20 minutes later it will start and run. I have encouraged him to take it to the dealer and let them fix it or at least diagnose it instead of guessing. He has replaced fuel filters fuel pump both low pressure and high pressure in the VST. Still does it. Well now he is being told it could be the crankshaft position sensor. He has ordered one and will install it. I have not heard of this being a big problem with these engines. What’s your thoughts?

see very few CPS fail but some , whats batt voltage when it will not start , does fuel pumps run at key on look for loose terminals in min power relay connector also

Might want to check voltage at the battery with a DVOM when it dies and/or will not start. If it’s not charging, you may see this type of scenario, especially if the battery is marginal capacity.
