Shimano Curado / Chronarch 150 MGL

I had a thumb injury a couple years back and I had to switch to Diawa SV spools …
Its feeling much better and I’m ready to get back to throwing Shimano’s.
    Just my personal preference…

Looking for some input and opinions on The Curado 150 MGL and Chronarch 150 MGL.
Pros and Cons of both ..

In terms of difficulty to “Blow up or Backlash “
I understand the Curado has the newer 6 brake technology but I heard from someone today that in there opinion , even though the Chronarch has 2017 technology. The Chronarch still has the edge ..

Can I get some opinions from guys who have used both please?
Im going to buy both to try out , but visually it seems to me that the Chronarch has a slightly lower frame size as well , which may be a bit more comfortable in terms of palming.
Allot of this is personal preference… However the backlash degree of difficulty should be a common opinion.

Appreciate everyone’s thoughts and advice in advance.

Personally I prefer Curado 150 over Chronarch from durability to how a reel takes a service/tuning. Durability/performance are the two most critical comparisons imho. As far as backlashing, that is always predicated by how education a specific thumb is these days.

One does have to ask themselves though..
why is it that Shimano has made that same Reel for nearly 10 years?
Im hearing internally the Chronarch is similar to a Bantam and Metanium

I have both, and both are awesome reels. It may just be my imagination, but the Chronarch seems to cast better. How much better is debatable. I can't tell a bit of difference in the actual braking between the 6 weight Curado, and the 4 weight Chronarch. I do know the Chronarch is way easier to make adjustments to the braking using the adjustment wheel, for lack of a better term, than the Curado is. Which may be why I think the Chronarch casts better. The Curado is a smooth reel, but not as smooth as the Chronarch.

As far as palming one versus the other, there is nothing that sticks out to me, as far as one palming better than the other.

Love the Curados, but to me, the Chronarch is the better reel.

Anyone have additional thoughts in terms of braking, Degree of difficulty in terms of backlash?

As a long time Shimano user, I tried some Diawas a few years ago. I found I did not care for the ergonomics or the braking, especially the sv reels. Diawas are well made and had zero issues, just wasn’t for me.

I have several old and new Curados, the 150mgl being my favorite. It’s a free casting reel that takes less effort to get the bait out there. Nothing is backlash proof of course, but I think this reel is pretty forgiving and the most versatile I’ve used.

couldn’t agree more , I love my dc for crankin and my Mets but that 150mgl I think may be best reel on the market , and the more I use mine it feels more free and just a fantastic reel !

I mainly have Metaniums and Zillions but i have 2 150 mgl's and they are the best reel on the market in that price range it is the best of the Curado's in my opinion.

I've not found a reel that casts any better for me that the Chronarch 150 MGLs. I even use them on my frog rods - they can take a beating. I did pick up some new Curados and they are nice but still not to the level of the Chronarch.
