Looking for Owners Manual
I’ve got a 96 champ 171 and need to identify a part for the fuel tank. Motor is a 95 Johnson Fast Strike 115. There was an 11/16(or 18mm) bolt, about an inch long, in the top of my fuel tank that I removed to siphon the gas out. Somehow misplaced it during the process, pretty sure it fell deep into the bilge. Frustrating.
was going to see if I could find a part or similar bolt but can seem to find the tank online. Pretty sure it would be in the Hull owners manual but could be false hope.
it was a plain bolt but I am also not sure if it was the wrong part to begin with from previous owner (supposed to be a vent?) , just need to know what goes there. Hoping the manual may lead to some useful info.

Hopefully they added the gas tank to your model years Owners Manual not in my 88 manual.

Dang. May be a lost cause.

The manuals were pretty generic in nature. The only detail was wiring diagrams in the Mtn Home manuals. Was going to say that if you have a telescoping mechanic's magnet that may help, but I bet it's brass or stainless. So, the best recommendation would be to contact the tank or possibly the sending unit manufacturer. That is unless you want to WAG it and go to Lowes and see if you can find one to fit it. I would think in 96 it would be SAE, but again could be metric.

I have figured out that it is just the other port for a second pickup tube. Obviously not being used so i just need to find a bolt to plug it. I was worried it was a special venting bolt or something.
