    RT 178 storage bins dry?

Hi all- new owner of a 2022 RT178. Read on another site a problem with storage bins getting wet. I have never had boat in rain or rough water yet, wondering experience from anyone with this model? If so is there a fix or solution. Trying to be proactive and also aware so I can take precautions. My recent initial outing with the boat although short was pleasant. Thx for any feedback.

I have a 2014 RT188 that I bought new and I have dealt with moisture in the lockers from day one. The moisture is from condensation. If the underside of your lids are not insulated with felt or thin glue on insulation, they will condense moisture and drip water on everything.
It is driven by humidity so if you can store the boat inside where you can crack open the lids, this will never be a concern. I have the worst condition of high humidity and outside storage so have had to take extreme measures to deal with it. I insulated the underside of all my lids and have forced air circulation through the front compartments.
A lot of variables so you may want to leave it alone for a year and see how much of a problem it is in your situation.

Thank you for that reply, it is very helpful. My boat is carpeted. I’m not sure if they were in 2014 or if that makes any difference. The one thing I did read online was it was after a rain when it happened to the individual. So sounds like there could be two issues to deal with. I was hoping maybe by 2022 they had did something to improve. Thank you.

Did not know this. Have been looking at a 2020 RT188 when I move to FL this summer. I guess I need to do more research.

please don’t base your decision on something I read online, but I agree do your research. Everything I have read about the RT 178 has been outstanding, this is a very minor problem that I’m sure it can be fixed with simple modifications if it’s even a problem. Doing my research it is one of the most trouble free boats I have found, that’s why I bought one.

No worries, I'm buying a tin boat, Ranger or a Tracker, just not sure which.
