Question So, what’s the verdict on 25.1?

Are we go for massive updates. Been waiting to hear if there are issues with this update.

I've found no major issues on head units, other than the "finalizing update" message that continues to appear on subsequent bootups for a few seconds, which eventually (may) go away. Or may have a subsequent firmware fix released.

I don't use AT so can't say on that one, but most if not all posts on AT have been positive.). They may have removed a few color palettes, but it sounds like the AT improvements are very beneficial. Probably should have been released a year ago though.

It did remove my SS3D Temp Sensor as a Source when I updated the SS3D module, so I have reverted back to older firmware for that. Similar to how Ghost 1.3 update removed the Battery Voltage as a Source. No idea why Lowrance does things like that - one would assume it's a mistake, but they've never corrected the Ghost 1.3 firmware f$ck up, so who knows.

    Carbon 12
    carbon 12
    Carbon 9
    AT2

After the positive reviews I downloaded 25.1 Friday night even though I had a tournament Saturday morning. I knew I was going to fish the bank all day in the tournament and electronics weren’t going to be important Saturday. But while I was out there, of course I occasionally looked at my AT2 out of curiosity.

My first impressions are very positive. I was previously running contrast on 92-93, I did bump it down to 85ish after 25.1. Haven’t made any other adjustments yet. With no real time with it yet it seemed easier to see my bait and the fish now seem to pop alot better. The fish “glow” more with the new update. I really didn’t care for the solid colored blob before 25.1

Id be out there again today if not for these storms. Can’t wait to use it more

Did AT2 , Live and Carbon. Fished yesterday and in my opinion AT2 was clearer. Saw fish moving their tails several times.

I had to download it from Lowrance a second time. Maybe a bad sd. It went perfectly on my Pro12’s. Haven’t been on the water yet because of tornadoes but will tma hopefully.

25.1...my vote is yes. i had a hiccup, but it was fixed with customer support. i truly believe i did something wrong during that allowed my AT2 to become "lost". ha. i updated 4 HDSLives, SS3D, AT2.

Will be out on the lake tomorrow and will know more then, but so far all went smoothly. No reason not to install it.

I'm a 25.1 fan, was in the water yesterday with it updated and I think there are improvements on AT2 from a target separation perspective and seeing your lure. I was also able to reduce my contrast on both scout and forward and still see better. I'm happy.

Anyone see any gains on hd 3n1/s3100 setups? Lowrance mentioned less interference with 25.1. My main complaint since switching from a carbon/ traditional 3n1 to pro/hd/3n1 was increased interference and grainy images

I was out yesterday with the new updates on Pros, Lives and AT 2. I crappie fish only and cast 99% of the time. To my eyes there was no difference in the HD 3-1 on side scan, didn't look at the down scan. My AT 2 is run through a 12 Pro through ethernet to a Live 16. Like others, I had to back the contrast down and turn on the noise reduction from off to medium. I do find my jigs are a little more difficult to find, probably because of the noise reduction settings. I really couldn't see any difference in target separation though. With only six hours on the water, I'll reserve my final judgement until I get more time on it.

This and $2.50 will buy you a cup of coffee in some places.

IS it the same update for the Active target and head units or do I have to download 2 separate updates?

Each device has a specific update that needs loaded separately.

I am going to reload my AT update. I wasn’t happy with it yesterday on the water. The update on my Pro unit worked perfectly. The AT was kinda broken up. Actually the update before this one worked better for me. Maybe it didn’t take correctly or something. Don’t know. Maybe more time working with it will help.

I would consider doing the following:

Re-install the software on your AT2 (using a microSD or USB).

    Turn off your AT2 box.

    Restore Defaults on your Pro.

    Hard reset on your Pro.

Turn on your update AT2 box.

This should do the trick by clearing out the connection between your Pro and AT2 box, and then reinstalling it like adding the AT2 for the first time.
    Hard reset on your Pro

I think I understand what you are saying to do I do think that there is something left over that is messing with it. Pro 12’s you can’t ask for a better pic! Thanks Marc

I have a question? I just put the power to my new units, about an hour ago. HDS Pro 9 at the console, Elite FS 7 at the bow. I have an Eagle Eye 9 at the bow as well. My HDS and Elite are networked. Ethernet, and NMEA. Everything other than forgetting to put a fuse for my HDS in my fuse block, so when I hit the power button, nothing happened (duh me) everything is working as I had hoped, and pretty much expected after doing so much reading of past threads in this forum. Anyhow .... I also have the Wi Fi on the units enabled. I had a screen pop up informing me that I had this 25.1 update available to download.

Since I have the Eagle Eye, the AT2 improvements don't really interest me at this time. Maybe down the road after I update my trolling motor, but not right now. Plus I am pretty darned happy with the Eagle Eye. My question pertains to the "bugs fixes and improvements"? I'm coming from an LMS 522C iGPS unit on the bow, and a Gen 2 7 Touch at the console. So if there are any bugs in the Elite FS, or HDS Pro, I am not aware of them.

What kind of bugs are there that need fixing, or what kind of improvements might there be in the normal operation of the units? If the update is really more of an AT2 thing, then I think I will choose not to do the update at this time.

Like I said, I just got everything up and running. I don't want to have to re do something because the update didn't go as planned. Any thoughts you guys can share will be greatly appreciated. And just want to say how much reading the past threads on this forum, and the answers to my questions helped with me setting up my units.

Thank you to all you guys, whether you know it or not, this place has been a HUGE help.

I was pleased with the updates! No issues with the HDS Pro finishing update when powered on like some have mentioned.

Your question is not as simple to answer as you may hope. The short answer is "depends". Everyone has different configurations, hardware, 3rd party map cards, network configurations, etc. While you may not have a "bug" that you are aware of today, one may show up tomorrow when you try something new or add/change something. The book answer is to always have the latest update on your hardware, just like having updates on your home computer. My recent videos of 25.1 point out some of the bugs that are fixed for specific problems like using Airmar transducers, 3D StructureScan, etc.

    I always recommend updating.
    ciao,
    Marc
