Whole House Water Filter and Descaler. (City Water not well)

I was thinking of adding these on a new build. I was looking at the AOS products and it looks like it is about $700.00 for the par of them. My daughter and son both have eczema so I was thinking that removing a lot of the chlorine may help them with it. Also it sounds like they will be better on the appliances and prevent some of the build up we would get in the shower.

Anyone use a system like this, and if so, how happy are you with it?

Not exactly sure which systems you are looking at but if they’re $700 you’re just burning money

AOS systems. I'm not looking to brew beer but just wanted something to reduce chlorine and some other things.

I assume you are talking about AO Smith. You’re wasting money on anything at that price. I own a water purification company and this isn’t a sales pitch but I’ve cut out numerous AO smith systems that weren’t a year old and replaced them.

Descaler isnt worth it. Go with a water softener.

Water softeners remove hard water minerals, while water descalers alter the chemical structure of hard minerals to render them harmless.

With a water softener you use less soap, detergent etc and have less residue. You do have to replenish the salt.

Yep But you gotta make sure that you pay attention to the filter because they don't like grit or drips

What merit is this statement made on? Kinetico is nothing more than a brand. You are paying for the name. Their systems are not superior to other systems on the market especially city water. Kinetico is not known for their city water treatment. And before anyone jumps in to praise how their softeners don't use electric, a freaking 9v battery can run the head of most softeners. It takes almost no power to run a softener head. It blows my mind how many people fall victim of this. Oh, and Kinetico is sooo superior, that they are buying equipment from CSI in Ashland Ohio, slapping their sticker on it, and selling it at kinetico prices.

To the OP, if it's $700 it is junk. I've had best luck with the Halo 5 on city water. Let me know if you have questions.

22 years of trouble free use is what I base my statement on. The neighbor is on his third water softener in the same time. The system regenerates whrn required not based on time like other systems. It’s not about the electricity it’s about salt pellet consumption..

I have a Three Stage Whole house filter. Change the cartages every year and the first stage filter every 6 months. Amazing how much debris / silt / solids it traps. I am on City water and can only imagine how much crap would be going in my water heater.

The one I was looking at is at 8 minute mark. Since we are on City Water and the water comes from Lake Keowee, which is very clean, I did not think we needed a top of the line system. Thoughts on some of the others they reviewed?

I can understand those results. The thing to know is regenerating when needed is a standard feature for most twin tank softener systems as well as many single tank units. It sounds like your neighbors are not buying comparable units. You can't go wrong with kinetico on well water, but you will overpay.
