Mission Statement: Please Read before Posting

Ok this is not really a mission statement but it is a repeat of my vision for this forum. Hopefully it reflects the wants and needs of the members who visit this board.

I had hoped that this board would be a place where anyone who wanted information about the lakes in Indiana could come here and get it...plain and simple. I love to hear fish stories as we all do but whether you catch fish or not is really incidental to some of the most valuable information you could share with us on this board after a fishing trip. That information basically contains seasonal conditions, lake conditions and the weather conditions for that day.

    This includes things like:

Water Level: High or Low etc.
Water Clarity: Muddy or clear etc.
    Water Temperature:
    Boating Traffic:
Wind Conditions and what they did to the water.
    Was it sunny or cloudy.
Is the grass thick or not.
    Is there current

If you caught fish we certainly want to hear about it! You do NOT have to give us GPS coordinates with the exact patterns, bait used etc but if you say you caught them in 20 to 25 feet of water on slow moving baits how could that hurt you? The same is true for those who don't catch fish. The same basic information could help others...but will not hurt you. (At least that's my opinion ) I understand if you are pre-fishing for a tournament and want to be a little tight lipped but generally the kind of basic information that we all can use will seldom hurt you by giving it.

I think it could be very helpful if I had a day I wanted to go fishing and I could come in here and get some information from a fellow BBCer that might help me make a good decision. Even if that decision is not to go to that lake because the water is SO HIGH you can't launch! Or maybe the lake was so muddy 3 days ago I don't waste my time going if I like to fish clear water. That being said, that information is only available if someone takes the minute or two it takes to actually make a post! The more people we have posting...the more people who will benefit from this board.

Hopefully this makes sense to everyone. If it doesn't please let me know as I sincerely want this board to be a good source of information and to reflect the needs of our members who post here.

I am open to improving the board so if you have ideas that will make it better for our members.....then let's hear them!!

Thanks to everyone who visits this forum and especially those who take the time to post!

These are some good thoughts John. I know I've been guilty of not posting everytime I go out and don't do well.

Just think, if I post everytime I go fishing and don't do well...I'll increase my post count by a 100 posts per year!!!
