I don't recall the forecast hour by hour but it's pretty normal here to have winds kick up well over the forecast. I'm sure they all looked at it and many still went out. I suspect because this involved McKinney it has to be harped on just a bit more.

Many pros went out yesterday. It's all over their social media.

Off the top of my head others rmthat fished yesterday were Scott Martin, Cooper Gallant,Tyler Williams and Milliken. There are more. Several have posted footage.

In my part of the world, Watts Bar, Chick, Nickajack, you can add 50% to the wind speed on land vs. water. If my weather app says 15 mph winds, boat stays in the garage.

yes, extreme winds were forecasted for yesterday. We knew all week these winds were going to hit.

It was literally forecast to be near historic winds with this system winding up yesterday. This wasn't a typical spring wind maker and was forecast as such for a week prior.

Putting the phone down would have been a great start. Maybe walk down and try to help would have been good. People sit and bitch about how tge world is so much worse these days yet don't think twice to film something rather than walking over to tryand help in a tough situation. I am a fisherman and I give a damn if a guy is a pro or not I'm gonna go ask if I can help and offer some assistance rather than see someone's boat get beat up or watch someone get hurt.

Maybe up there but the forecast here was a bit less than that. Nothing here mentioned "historic" forecast. You can go back and check Denton/ Sanger area by date. It didn't get really bad here till later in afternoon after lunch. Yesterday when they launched wit was 15-18mph, stayed around 25-30mph all day with highest recorded gust in Sanger between 41-43mph.

The crazy thing is if a tournament trail cancels a day over wind or weather they often get roasted. Just last weekend in high winds two trails fished in the DFW area and one of those lakes saw 50mph gusts and some hail. Not a mention of that though. I'm not complaining they fished as I was out there last weekend myself.

These guys are from all over the country and while they may understand weather a bit all lakes react differently in high winds and perhaps they took it for granted. It happens. I'm just glad all are OK.

It seems here if they say 10-15mph you can just add the 2 numbers together to get an accurate measure.

I was just checking , so the theory could happen to anyone to get stuck in a wind storm pop up really don’t apply here was my point ! Over on the Texas board the feller isn’t getting near the sympathy as here , most are saying that’s the absolute worse ramp to use if it’s even a little windy !

That is something being missed. People new to the lake might not know that about the ramp. They can't ask for info so it's more than possible some that launched there yesterday simply didn't know.

One of the guys commenting over there giving them a little grace probably fishes tgerecas much as anyone and has won some bigger events there l. He mentioned in his younger days he probably would have done the same. Not even sure he launched at that ramp either, that is Tyler Wilkiams' truck in the video hooked to McKinney 's trailer. The story I got is Williams dropped his boat after loading up then went and hooked to McKinney 's trailer to load him out. Not sure why he had to use his truck or if McKinney launched elsewhere and McKinney met him at that ramp.

If nothing else I bet a few lessons were learned the hard way yesterday so moving forward they will probably be a little more cautious.

High winds are forecast for the event. If they cancel any of the says I bet there will be an uproar over them doing so.

Here was one of the forecast I saw. I have some friends that live at Ray Robert’s, talked to one of them Thursday and he mentioned it was going to be nasty out there for the 1st day of practice. Said he wouldn’t be surprised if someone sunk their boat.

Exactly. Getting out of truck and at least asking to help is the decent thing to do. Maybe you can or maybe you cannot help. I’ve went in waist deep on ramp before to help guy who was clearly having trouble loading and it wasn’t going to happen without help. But hey they just me.

I honestly felt like it blew harder than it really did at the house yesterday I was curious about what was actually recorded at Ray Roberts yesterday. Most of the links I found showed the same. 41-43mph were highest gusts and around 25-30mph wind from late morning into evening. This is one of the links I read through.

I'd have went and asked/tried to help too, but just being realistic its loading a boat and what more could a 3rd guy really do? Kinda like helping someone dig a hole with one shovel.

A 3rd person could have tried to get the winch strap hooked up and cranked some tension on it. Who knows, he may have been able to winch it up so they could at least get the boat out of the water so the water could drain out.

That should be what the 2nd person is doing.

I would get out to ask, but no way in hell am I putting my hand or head under that bouncing boat. A broken hand would be bad enough, but risking a skull fracture or possibly or possibly death to get a hook on the bow eye, nope. I would run into a fire to save a person, or maybe even an animal, but so much bad could happen in an instant with a boat that is 1/2 to 3/4 of a way on a trailer throttling up and bouncing.
