    Ultrex quest-Helix G2N Compatibility

    Hey all,

I just purchased a Ultrex Quest and couldn't be more excited about it. I wanted to connect the quest to my current helix units, but from reading on Humminbirds website I'm not sure i can.

I have a Helix 10G2N SI Mega and a Helix 10 Chirp Sonar. I assumed I could just buy a 5 port switch and connect them all, but from reading about the current 5 port switch, it only mentions compatibility with G3N or newer Helix's. Is that the case? Will the old ethernet switch work to connect everything?

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Yes the AS ETH 5PXG will work and it is still shown on the Humminbird website.

Read the Q and A section:

    AS ETH 5PXG - 5-Port Ethernet Switch - Humminbird

Okay great. Thank you for the response.

Now after a little more research, my question is, is ethernet linking the trolling motor and helix unit really even worth doing? Looks like the only function I would be missing out on is where the trolling motor will follow a depth contour?

The Ethernet connection does the Follow-the-Contour feature if you have Lakemaster, Auto Chart, or Auto Chart Live HD contours. It allows more memory than the Advanced GPS has for waypoints/spotlocks, and iTracks. You can control the trolling motor with the control panel on the display. The Quest comes will all the needed cables to connect directly to a Humminbird display. If you have more than just the trolling motor and a display and want extra devices networked, you would need the Ethernet Switch and cables to the other devices.
