I’ll try to keep this brief. S/N 3B458928 157 hours
-Bought boat/motor after doing 20minute lake test
-Stop at lake on my way home and idled for 20-30 minutes
-Take boat to the lake to fish. Run 7 miles, fish for 30 minutes, start up, idle for 5 minutes then run 3 miles.
-I idle for 2-3 minutes before turning off motor and fishing for 20-30 minutes (still no alarms)
-Try to start the boat, turns over 2 times then stops and the six long beeps start. Tried to start 5-6 more times before realizing I was stranded.
-Trolling motor about a mile to nearest ramp. Still wont start. Wait over an hour for my wife to meet me and still wont start (turns over twice, six beeps)
-Take to dealer. Had overheat code and it reached 215 degrees. They've run it on muffs and had no problems. Lake test to come.
They're troubleshooting now without much luck. Any thoughts how a motor can apparently overheat while not running? I know they get hotter when you turn them off, but this makes no sense to me. Wouldn't I have heard the alarm while the motor was running before reaching 215? I initially thought about a bad temp sensor. FYI, I'm getting smartcraft installed right now.
Thanks in advance for any help.
