    Oil Sensor 8M0142265

What’s required to install the optional oil sensor 8M0142265 on serial number 3B531263 and is it worth installing to be able to monitor the oil level? Does it show how many quarts of oil there is on the mercmonitor instead of needing to check the dipstick? Just curious if this would be something that could help proactively see if the oil is too low or too high.

Also would the mercmonitor running version 8 be able to show this? I see there is a version 9 now is there any reason to update for these new 4 strokes (and is it possible to update?)

Question #1: The oil level sensor can be installed quite simply, and should come with instructions.

Question #2: The oil level sensor simply shows oil level. It does not show "quarts".

Question #3: Version-8 may not contain the necessary programming for 4-stroke Oil Level. Honestly never attempted this.

Question #4: Mercury does not currently offer an reflash program for Mercmonitors, and the last I heard they did not intend to.

Does the oil level sensor display automatically when paired with smartcraft connect on a nmea garmin display?

It should, though you may have to set up the sensor.
