    Shelbyville in October?

I have never fished Lake Shelbyville. I have a trip planned for late October and wondered if anyone could give me a clue about the lake?
    Thanks

Well, I wish I had heard a lot about it. I have heard that you can catch some good fish there but that you have to be somewhat careful because of the low water. Don't know anything about techniques or what they look for.
Have you heard anything along those lines? I go up the last weekend in October.

I haven't heard anything specific. Being Oct I'll have 3 rods. Top water, spinner bait, and a weightless senko. If i get bored I'll throw a square billed crank as well. I'll expect a good shallow bite in Oct. Of course I've never been there so don't hold me to it.

Hey guys, the water level is back up to normal pool...

I tournament fish this lake every year...Here are some tips:

    1. The fish should be up shallow this time of year and you should be able to find them in backs of coves and pockets feeding heavily on shad. This pattern should hold up until the first few days of extremely cold weather arrive. Once the weather turns cold and the surface temp drops the fish will go deep again.

    2. Use a white spinnerbait with silver and gold willow leaf blades and look for any structure in the backs of the coves and hit it hard. The Bass will often use the structure to rest after chasing schools of shad all day in the coves. The Bass will also use the cover to ambush schools of shad as they pass by. When the shad are shallow the bass will follow as I always say.

    3. If you have a major cold front come through you may want to find secondary coves off the main lake and fish SLOW with maybe a Green jig or Red shad finesse worm.

Hope this helps. Let me know how you did when you get back..
