just got back from a weekend touney at shelbyville and it was torture.1 week ago the water was 64 degrees and on friday it was 49 to 54 degrees and at the end of today it the highest was 59.The bass are cofused and tryong to spawn but have no where to go they dropped th lake another 2 feet this week.Needless to say the fish count was down.99% of the fish were caught on crankbaits suspended about 7 - 12 ft. and one caught on a jig in 20 ft of water.Beutiful lake and a weekend down tyher is always a good time

Fishing Report for Saturday May 19th 2007 Lake Shelbyville Il

Started fishing around 6:30 am about mid lake near Wolf Creak and then back down to the South end around main lake points and some smaller coves.

Weather: Early 57 degrees and by 2:00 75 degrees. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky. Wind was brisk and by noon, along with the big boats, made for a slow going on the main lake.
Water Temp 65 to 71 degrees.
    Water was somewhat clear.

The water level is still down from winter pool. Most of the structure I usually fish is now way out of the water. It was kinda like fishing in a bowl. Not much structure to fish. I hope the water level comes back up to where it used to be before the June BFL tournament.

Caught 9 bass with the biggest going 16 inches.

    Lures that caught the bass:
Lizard, crank bait, spinner bait, creature bait..

Thanks Rob . I'm hoping the water will come up some also. I will be heading down next Friday morning (6-8-07) for our clubs two day tournament. I have been watching the army corp web site and see the water has came up some also. for some more rain...
Also we will be putting in at the Wolf Creek ramp, but I usually run south to Lithia Springs.

You probably know the lake better than me but the last two years eagles nest and(shhhhhh) the little cove, cut or finger whatever you call it right across the lake from the eagle creek launch.I have caught atleast one keeper out of there every morning off of the laydown on the point. The tree is in 2 or 3 feet of water and the drop off is about 6 to 8 feet love it in the morning good luck

Those a good places for released fish to hide. Most big tournamnets go out of Eagle creek boat ramp and the fish are released there also. Might have to make a quick trip there also, Thanks.

What kind of fish did your club catch? The ITT had 30 five fish limits on Sunday.

We only keep 3 per boat due to some of the guys have small boats with small livewells. We had 4 boats with limits on sat and 3 boats with limits on sun. We (me and my co-angler) only caught 2 each day. Ours came off crankbaits or worms. The winners caght theirs off crankbaits and pop-r-s early. One of our teams had bb with a 5lbs/5ozs off a SR5. We gave it a good shot and had a good run down to lithia springs both days. We had a ton of whites in the boat and a 7 crappie over 12"s.

Yes, the bass did, but the whites and crappies hit all day.

I'm gonna hit Shelbyville next week. I'm not sure how much fishing I'll get in between tubing and skiing trips but I'll let you know if I get on any bass. I am going out with my wife and son with Don Satterfield for a fun trip of catching white bass. I hear they are really hitting now.
