Mercury leads the market in north american freshwater applications, especially on the v6+ platforms...thus I would say they are very much already a viable option.

They are also taking market share in the US saltwater market as well and making sizable gains in that market, especially at the big boat shows like Miami, Ft Lauderdale, etc.

Now that Merc's in the game, tournaments and insurance companies will allow hot motors. Just have to wait until them lawyers are on board.
