    190TX - anyone running 3 batteries

    190TX - anyone running 3 batteries

Buddy has a 190TX and would like to go to a 24v Trolling motor but does not think there is room for 3 batteries in back of boat. Anyone running 3 batteries?

A lot of folks are. Unless his is quite old and much different than the current rig. Battery tray selection become important. If the battery tray footprint is much larger than the batteries you may run into a problem.

I run 3 AGM 31 series in 2007. 2 Duracell for trolling motor a NorthStar for cranking. Turn the two trolling motor batteries longways front to back and push them about halfway forward under rear deck. Turn the cranking battery sideways/left to right in the rear. I used a double aluminum battery tray for the trolling batteries and a single aluminum battery tray for the cranking. Believe I got the trays from TH marine and they come with ratchet tie-downs.

I fit 3 in the rear of my 175 which is the same as the 190 no problem. I hated the 12v
motor on my 175 and put a 24v on after the first trip.

The dealer installed 3 in mine and added a 24 volt trolling motor.

Yup, no problem with 3 batteries. The 175 and 190 really do need a 24v anyway if you fish more than flat calm water with littler more than a couple mph breeze.

I'm running three in my PT 190. Two 27 series (trolling) and one 24 series (starting/accessories). Mine are mounted crossways with the front battery well under the rear deck.

Anyone have any issues with too much weight in the rear with 3 group 31 AGM batteries? The reason i am asking, I had Tracker Marine tell me today, they didn't think they would fit and they would weigh too much.I know I could reduce the weight with Lithium but im not sold on Lithium just yet. I am kinda thinking the Ultrex Quest weight would balance it out. Any thoughts? I see folks running the Ultrex but it is a little lighter than the quest.

I had 3 31s in my 195 with a maxxum on the front and lost a few mph. They already sit high in the front as it is so what's a few more pounds to the rear anyway.

Don't worry about a little extra weight in the bilge. Like you said you have a HEAVY trolling motor to counter that.

My boat came with 3 Group 27s in the stern and the cranking battery in the port storage compartment. Not certain that 31s will fit. It worked but the loss of storage and the weight was a pretty big hit. I now run a single 36v and wont look back.

Three 31's will 100% fit in the bilge but you have to decide how OK you are with not using trays or figure out how to secure them without them. That said, today I'd go lithium everywhere you can and not look back. A little more money up front but will save you money long term.

I have a 2014 190TX and was able to fit 3 batteries in the back when I first bought it. It’s tight for sure, but they can fit. Since then I recarpeted my boat and turned the front livewell back into storage. At that time I ran additional battery power cables to that compartment and put my two trolling motor batteries there. I wanted to free up space in the back to put my two power pole pumps. The side benefit of putting those two batteries there sort of leveled out my boat when I was fishing solo.

I've got 2 lithiums and a grp 24 crank in mine. Seachoice makes a tray that will fit a grp 31 AGM Duracell that's 13 inches long. On Amazon. I've got the tray in my boat but haven't put the battery in as mine is still doing the job. I did sit the battery in the tray at Sam's club and it fit.

no need to change the wiring as long as it's in good shape.
