    The Isthmus at Point Peninsula

    Patiently waiting for open water.
I know the Isthmus is fairly shallow,
How bad is it to launch there in a 21ft bass boat?
I want to get out to Galloo when the weather permits and figured the Isthmus was the shortest access to there.
I fish a lot out of the Chaumont launch but going to Galloo from there is a fairly good hike.

open water… and add a couple months onto it
Can’t fish Lake Ontario or the bays north of sandy pond until June 15.

Are you talking about the Flanders launch off of 57? I haven’t heard too many people using the point peninsula launch because of how shallow it is. I mean Chaumont launch is shallow as it is haha. Basically the time you save in the boat you end up spending in the car driving around the bay to the launch.

Yes the State launch on 57
Exactly the depth worries me and a stray boulder.
I don't hear much about it and have been too chicken to launch there until I can get some confirmation it is doable.
I plan to fish out of Cape Vincent and Canadian waters early season.
Also a trip or two to Sandy Pond.
I have a campsite in Chaumont and spend a lot of time up there.

I have noticed over the last couple of years that they have upgraded several ramps and docks, ex. Chipawa and Cape Vincent.
It seems like the Isthmus ramp got very shallow last year. Is this ramp on the list to either dredge or update?
Great launch to get out to the main lake which many still use.

I do know they had the launch closed for a couple weeks last yr but I have no clue what they did.

Unless that was only because of the bridge work nearby.

The one near town off of 12 is getting shallower every year too.

I have a place in Three Mile Bay and have used that launch often. If it is not blowing out of the southwest its fine to use. Keep your trim about halfway up and watch your graph. Never have had an issue with it
