    Arkansas River Sloughs?

Got a trip booked for mid April to Millwood based on ya'll suggestions a few months back. Looking forward to that elusive plant called a "Lilly Pad". I hail from NW Arkansas, land of the clear water and rock.

I'm on the search for a second lake to put on my scouting list in that general area.

Features wanted - shallow water with vegetation. I ain't no offshore type of fisherman. Sometimes I'll get all crazy and throw a Rapala DT 6.

Would Lake Nimrod qualify? Hartman Lake? How about the sloughs off the river? The river area south of Clarksville or would further down to Russellville be better?

Dardanelle would be my other pick other than Millwood. Nimrod doesn't have much, if any, vegetation. It's full of shallow water fishing though. In the spring it'll be HIGH!!!

Thanks for the Nimrod heads up. I'll skip that one if the vegetation is nonexistent. Just got an email from AGFC notifying they are throwing in the fish attractors in Nimrod.

Don’t know if you are interested in going out of state, but once at Millwood you are only about 1 1/2 hours from Lake Of The Pines in Jefferson Texas. It is normally great fishing in April.
    Just a thought.

That's exactly what I was considering. Lake Of the Pines and Caddo Lake is close by as well.

We did a trip to Millwood last yr and enjoyed, given we had crappy weather and could not reschedule. Alot of pads, only saw 1 swamp puppy. Guide said at night it is a whole different story.... a lot of eyes. :)
Always a lot of folks fishing on LoPines when we cross it. It is on my radar too.
