High Rock area
Question for you guys around High Rock. I’m thinking of fishing a tournament mid March out of the Southmont ramp and was wondering where’s a safe place to stay for the night because I’m planning on coming down on Friday. Didn’t see anything that would work with the boat locally on Airbnb.

We usually just stay at Days Inn right off the exit in Lexington (and main road to Southmont). It's an average hotel but pretty much always have several boats there on tournament weekends.
Wherever you stay make sure you lock everything up and stay armed or you will be making donations to the local junkies. Davidson county is nothing more than a big meth lab.

Nope, lived there for 10 years(too many). Most ignorant backwards unlearned people I’ve ever encountered. I told my family I would leave asap and not look back. Did exactly that. I still have to work in that landfill once every now and then but the only way I drive to it or through it is if I’m getting paid well to do so. I’ve told my parents that if they don’t move out of there by the time they get old enough that they can’t take care of themselves then it will be the assisted living facility is their choice there because I wouldn’t move back if my life depended on it.

FYI, crime rate in Guilford County (C-) is higher than Davidson County (B-).

Guilford county has a metropolitan city in it with high point attached to it......common sense tells you the crime rate is going to be higher. I'm not from guilford county so insulting it means nothing to me. My little piece of property between level cross and pleasant garden woks out just fine for me. There isn't a fraction of the meth/fentanyl in guilford county that there is in davidson county. So while the domestic violence rate may be much lower, the amount of theft and drugs is much higher. I work in both counties and the 3 other surrounding counties so I know this to be a fact. The education is among the worst in the state. Few years ago thomasville and lexington were rated as top 3 in "dumbest cities" in the state, how they weren't ranked as 1-2 is beyond me. One of the high dropout rates in the state. Every one I know that has to go davidson county that doesn't live there or visit it often always ask me the same question "what is wrong with those people?" There is good and bad everywhere but of all the places I've been in my life it is the butthole of all creation. That's my view and I'm entitled to it. If you like it, good, by all means have at it. I don't give 3 rips either way. But after having things stolen from me and the amount of catalytic converters/other personal property that get stolen in that county I chimed in. Every bad experience I've ever had with other goobers that were a threat to my safety have all been at ramps around high rock and tuckertown.
Spin it all you can man, it is you story you tell it like you want but the truth is there is more crime and more crime per person in Guilford county than Davidson. Big city there or not you have a better chance of being a victim of a crime in Guilford County and that is what people care about. do you think someone gets mugged in Guilford county and says "gee it is okay they have a metropolis here". A couple of anecdotal stories are not a reflection of anything as a whole. That is intellectually dishonest.
Oh and you should look up drug busts per county also, not even close. All that is readily avail from crime statistics so not sure why anyone would try to make some statement to the opposite and think they would not be checked. I mean common sense tells you that right?
