If we get 40mph with this new rig (all reviews and the dealer confirm more likely 42+) then I’ll be plenty happy. I appreciate the advise to get max HP and if I was doing a brand new boat build I would, but this was a last year model on clearance at a great price. I've now got a brand new boat with a lifetime hull warranty and room for guests to fish comfortably with us. My son and I are very excited about the coming season in our dream boat - we talked many times last year about how amazing it will be when we upgrade to a 19ft. … and we just did. Seeing my son and best fishing buddy sitting in his dream boat on the showroom floor, smiling and daydreaming. Well, life is good. :-)
That’s what it’s all about, man! I’m happy for you, and can’t wait to read all the stories about how you love fishing with your son in your new boat!!

The memories that will be made in that boat will be priceless. A 17p Powertech nrs4 would probably work great with that setup. Actually, do you have the command thrust gear case?
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.

I dont know. It’s a 2024 115 Pro XS, the sales slip says the motor is a 115 ELPT. Don’t know if that means anything, or if I could use my serial number to look up the specs?

A 115 pro XS can be a Command thrust or just a regular lower.

If I find myself near the dealer tomorrow, I’ll check because they still have my boat in the showroom. Motor says 115 Pro XS on the cowling. I’ll see if the dealer can help me determine if it’s the command thrust or not.

If the lower unit is silver it's likely a command thrust. I have the standard gear lower unit and it's black.

Ah. Well I know the lower unit is black and the stock prop is a black 3 blade. So likely not the command thrust. I’ll just see how it runs with the stock prop and go from there.

As mentioned, the CT has a decal on the cowling that states so. Later, you may want to change the 3 blade to the 4 blade Spitfire. You may lose a bit on top end, but holeshot and handling will be better. My Lund with the 115 (non CT) does really well with my Spitfire prop. Ice out can’t be soon enough for us Ontarians.

I was at the dealership today, so checked my prop. It’s a 3 blade aluminum 12.75x21P. I’ll look forward to seeing how it performs before considering any changes. Interestingly enough, the local shop that does trolling motor and electronics installations is also a prop sale shop. I stopped by there today to talk about electronics and the owner said he’s got a Lowe and runs the OEM prop. He said Lowe does a good job of matching power/prop to their boats from the factory.

I don’t think you will be having an early spring like in 2024.

Yeah, I highly doubt it. Last year we were fishing for pike on Lake Ontario, in our little 16ft. Tracker, in just a hoodie… on March 15th. It was glorious. This year I expect spring will be too late to fish pike before the winter season closes, but hoping to take advantage of the early catch and release bass season in Zone 20 that’s open until May 10.
