2 Model years to be exact, and if I am remembering right it was changed back mid model year 2011. 08 I believe was rated for a 150 max HP. went to 200 in like 2010 time frame, after 2011 back to 150. The z18 may have been the introduction of the 175 Mx HP.

Needs a 200 regardless, it was dumb to rate them for a 150hp. My Skeeter is shorter, narrower and lighter than the Z7 and yes it absolutely is under powered with the 150 that is on it. If I decide to keep it I will be tuning the motor to a 230 hp by Nizpro.

the rating was changed to fit a price point most were sold on single axle trailers with 150 hp . the motor is plenty some folks dont have the need to go over 60 mph on the water. there is a reason folks bought the z 7 they were cheap not everybody has to run 70 mph they want to but some dont have the funds.
Yes, rarely do I see anyone going over 60 unless it is tournament day. As long as the hole shot is okay, most are content to cruise around at 40-55, even those with the big engines.
That doesn't make any sense. Why not keep it rated for a 200 and sell it with a 150hp, It would be the same price? Even now they sell Z18s with 150s on them when they are rated for a 175.

Yup, what's funny is I think my cruising speed in my 50mph boat is about the same as what my friend cruises his mid 60's boat at. We both normally run somewhere in the 40's.
