Prop recommendation for a Phoenix 819/Merc 200 Pro XS

I just bought a new to me 2023 Phoenix 819 with a Merc 200 Pro XS 1.75 gear ratio. It currently has a Fury 24P 3 blade. A few people have told me that prop is only good for lighter loads and should be running a Fury 23P 3 blade. I am not concerned with top end speed. I would prefer a good hole shot, better handling and a comfortable cruise at mid range speed. I think I would like to go to a 4 blade prop. Any recommendations?

Just picked it up yesterday and my lake is a block of ice, so I do not have any WOT RPM numbers.

    Thank you!

Hi there, my 2023 819 Pro also came from the factory with a 24P Fury. This is a mistake, I called Tim at Phoenix and they sent me a 23P Fury instead and I sent back the 24P. While it will work with a 24P, it handles and performs way better with a 23P. I know several people with the 819 and we are all running 23P Fury's.

I talked with Jason today at Phoenix, who was great. Phoenix recommends the Fury 23P 3 blade for the 819.

Your time to plane will be greatly reduced, and you may even pick up some top end. Props are optional when ordering a Phoenix, and if it was dealer sourced when it was rigged, it could have just been a mistake. Either way, you will like the 23P!

    +1 on the 23 pitch.

My '21 819 was rigged with a fury 3 blade, 24 pitch when I bought it new. Swapped to a Fury 3 blade, 23 pitch and gained hole shot, RMP and didn't loose or gain any speed. My biggest adjustment I saw results from was prop to pad. Started raising jack plate 1/4" at a time (manual jack plate). Gained RPM, speed and handling. Seemed like to me, the Fury likes to run a little shallower.

23 Fury for sure. Now if you put lithium's in the back, it changes a bit! I have run my 23 since day 1, good all around prop. Enjoy your ride!
