Battle the fog on my way down it was nasty! Got better 1/2 way down so that was good. Started about 8:30am. I was pretty excited to get started. I got a tip on a place to start so headed there first. Ended up being a great spot got a dozen bass with 2 three pounds (all on a JB)…. I looked at the map and tried to find a few spots that looked the same so I moved to test them out. No luck at those places. Ran pretty far north to some steep Channel banks. No luck there. Spent 45 mins grafting looking for bigger fish and never saw what I was looking for but I marked a lot of structure…. Moved back to the starting spot and got one last bass. I don’t know what it was about this area but it was the deal. I watched most of the on active target eat the jerk bait so that was cool. Quit about 2:30 but made a few laps at 70+mph learning how to drive this boat and it’s really not fun going that fast lol!
As I was driving home noticed all the ponds were open even in Iowa. Since I was so close to Viking I thought I better check it out and it was back open! So why not I had about 1 1/2hr left of daylight so put in. Got 2 Craippies one on jerk bait one on a blade. I think I might try Viking again in the morning before the rains come. I don’t go back to work till Thursday so might as we stay after it.
