    Trim and Tilt Question

With my motor in gear at idle speed when I tilt the motor down it is not a smooth action. I guess you could call it jerkie almost like it is falling a little bit at a time. When I get to the trim range it is a nice smooth movement.

Could it be that the fluid level is low ?

And if the fluid level is low what do you use to fill it and how do you fill it ?

I see slotted plug on what looks like the fluid reservoir for the trim and tilt. I would assume that you fill it there with the pump that you fill the lower unit ?

Re: Trim and Tilt Question (RangerTim619)

    MINE too. I have a Vindicator 200.

I have tried having the pump valve cleaned on for the same reservoir and having it blead but tit did not go away. Someone suggested that it may be binding on the stearing tube at the ends, someone else thought maybe the hydrolic ram (tec name ??) is leaking around the seal but when I leave the motor fully up it does not lower by itself , so I figured this rules out that sencond option.

I have my power head off now so this would be a great time to do whatever.

    Anyone ??? Rusty ??

Yep that is where you fill it trim the motor all the way up and support it on the trailering bracket. Remove the screw if fluid runs out you're OK if not top it off with BRP trim n tilt fluid, replace the screw. Raise the motor again and trim all the way down and put a block of wood under the skeg. Unscrew the manual release screw a few turns and cycle the trim up and down at least 5 cycles, count to 15 on the up and 15 on the down. Tighten the screw and try it should work. CM

Re: Trim and Tilt Question (ChampioNman)

    Firstly,

Are the pivot points and where you put in the trim and tilt fluif the same ?

    Secondly,
I think I used ATF fluid as recommended somewhere ??? in the trim and tilt reservoir. Is this correct ?

    Thirdly,
Champoinman, what screw are you describing ? Is this where you you fill the T&T fluid ? by the pump? With the mechanism with the valves that can get blocked bolted onto it ? If so and it is filled and you screw open the screw, how can fluid flow out ... please advise.

Re: Trim and Tilt Question (dsly1)

The resevoir is on the right side of the assembly the pump is on the left. You remove the screw on the resevoir and that is where the fluid goes in. I only use BRP TNT fluid. Make sense? If some comes out then your GTG if not add until it does, then bleed by the procedure. CM

Re: Trim and Tilt Question (dsly1)

If its white that is bad, use the BRP Tilt and Trim/ Power Steering fluid shown in the pic.

What about the pivot points....I dont understand this question.
