    Arkansas River Brood Stocking Program

Just wanted to let you guys know that the Stocking efforts of the AGFC and the ABA have been paying off for us down on the south end of the river. It is truly amazing that they can take 200 brood stock bass(2 to 4 pounders) and turn them into nearly 200,000 fingerling bass (2 to 4 inchers).

If you would like take part in this great effort, I would like to invite you down to Pendelton Bridge at Dumas on March 25th 2007, when we will be putting on a Buddy Tournament to further this cause. The AGFC will have their truck at the weigh in and will be collecting our brood fish to take to the Cummins nursery pond. Each team will be able to Donate 10 fish to the truck. (But you can only weigh your best 5) The fingerlings will then be distributed at all 5 weigh in sites of the Ford Big Bass Bonanza in June for anyone to take out to their favorite fishing spots for the live release.

Sponsors of this will be Team Luck-E-Strike and Seark Rodbenders, both of which are TBF Arkansas Clubs. If you would like more info send me an email at lv8rman@yahoo.com and I can send you an entry form and Rules via word document. Or you can contact Alan Melder, the Ark TBF Secretary.

I know you guys up there around Dardanelle have been looking for an excuse to come to Dumas so this is your chance.

    Tight Lines, Gregg Armstrong

Yeah its a good feeling to be doing something positive for the river. It doesn't seem like all that long ago when the river was really not the place to be for bass fishing. It has come back strong.

BTW good luck with your Surgery in the morning.

Dont forget the ABA, AGFC, Department of Corrections, and the Dumas Bass Club. All of these componets and the clubs you mentioned came together to continue this 5 year old project. If you give even a slight rat's rear about the river I strongly encourage you to either fish this tournament, join one of these clubs or join the ABA. With a few thousand dollars raised each year by the ABA we pay for diesel and the combined clubs are nice enough to provide fish from this tournament. We can ALL make a big difference. Not to mention the AGFC brings us trucks and the good folks of the department of corrections DONATE their time to maintain these fish while they "do their thing"!

If anyone out there would like info about the stocking project you can contact me or Dbasketman who's president of the ABA. With a little fun we can make our favorite fishinng holes better every year!

IT'S HIGH TIME WE TOOK A LITTLE TIME TO GIVE BACK TO SOMETHING WE CARE ABOUT!

    getting off soap box now...

I have talked to quite a few folks who plan on getting in on this. I think we will also have the truck for the weekend before that too for our Dumas Bass Club tournament. I also heard it will be here again for the Monticello Bass Club on the last weekend of March.

Thanks goes out to the ABA for getting this going. I know the two most important things that y'all provide aren't cheap. (Diesel and Minnows) This is a win-win for all.

The truck will be brought down by AGFC for the Dumas Club T on the 17th, the buddy T on the 25(switched from 24th), and then the monticello club T on the 31st- if needed. See you all there on the 25th for me.

Re: Arkansas River Brood Stocking Program (Fishinjunky)

Colton Dennis is who I would recommend contacting. The 3 tournaments from Dumas will likely provide all we will need for the ponds at Cummins- 200 fish is about all we can do on this acreage according to Colton. This project is a good one and if you guys in Searcy would like to start something in your neck of the woods or be the donating source next year talk to Colton about it. It would be great to see the thing spread.
